Day 16:

Finally, some use.

I went back to the Crater C33T. I like it. Fairly light, clip, and slim. Also, JUST the tools I need--nothing else (except scissors--no problem, I've got 20 Classic SDs...).

I'm still considering trading my Free T2 for an older traditional folder tomorrow while by an antique store near my house. I've gotten rid of loads of knives that were halfway decent, but I just didn't like them--mostly for other knives I did like (plus an old Japanese folding saw that cuts like a laser!). I bought the thing when Lowe's had them briefly '21-ish, and never liked it. Maybe carried ten times or less. It's as heavy as a Fieldmaster, with maybe as many tools as a Tinker or Spartan.  On top of the $50 they are now (I think I paid $40 at Lowe's), you have to pay $10 for the clip.  Bits--not a chance. Crater--if you've got a Gerber, Leatherman, or even Chinese off-brand tool adapter that fits over the Phillips--they'll work on the C33T as well. Some Crater models came with a bit driver--too rich for my blood (Leatherman is stupid to not have the bit driver on the Free T or K line--but can I mod a bit driver in the T2?).

Installed some screws to a new door handle .I had several that just didn't work, and finally, I routed out the hole in my door. As it turns out, the hole was bored specifically for the  '06-era lockset I originally had. It became damaged, and I went through 5 different ones trying to find something that fit.  This is the cheap $7 one from Lowe's--and, actually an exterior one....

Note; lost the right screws, but I still had the old ones.  Besides, they don't fit in the holes--the holes somehow got badly damaged/reamed--thus, I'll have to put some dowels or something down the hole. I know they make wood screw hole  repair inserts--but I haven't' seen them locally. Plus, they're priced obscenely for plastic...

On another note, I'm hoping the guy may have a Leatherman for once--like yet another PST--or better yet, a Micra.

The fork seems very small and also quite short to use as I would a normal fork.  Perhaps it is supposed to be more of seafood fork or fruit fork?
I used the one on my Mikov to pull out jalapeños one evening.  Forgot to take a picture of it though.

Kershaw Good Buddy--I'm thinking '70s vintage? These were fairly early, and made well into the '90s. Japan-made.  I also have a different model I got alongside it--money clip with blade and scissors. Was my money clip for years--as I thought I lost my Ambassador Money Clip--turns out, it was wedged for 5+ years under a dresser drawer! I hadn't gotten rid of the T-Shirts that I never wore in that drawer, and had I not pulled it out, I never would've noticed.

Blade and nail file, screwdriver, and bottle opener combo tool.
I'm not familiar with those.  That's pretty neat.  Might have to find me one for my SAK-A-Like collection.... don't judge me.

The Ruike cut the tamper seal so I could opened a new bottle of whiskey.  Some Japanese whiskey to drink while watching this month’s sumo tournament.

Day 17

Good to see another sumo fan here.  I usually watch on NHK World.  Might have to make some red beans and rice today.  I have some sweet pepper that I need to use up along with some hamburger.
Best wishes.  G

Day 17

Posing with a couple of my oldies, the Ozark added color to a couple 2nd gen WAVES, I was inspecting.

The SS took a stab at being a work carry, but always fell short against my ST3 and /or the REBAR.

The Cabela’s Orange is a favorite just for the color but finish is delicate.

More scissors use today. This time it was cutting stray threads off my summer socks (which are likely to wind up in the trash soon).

It's a rabbit hole. Best I can tell, Kershaw made close to half a dozen knives that were basically the same layout--blade+combo tool--just differing in handle. I think there were some Kai ones to throw in the mix as well.

I seem to recall those were made in Poland by Gerlach. I haven't seen half the ones you show before!

Day 17:

I've dabbled in RC construction machinery off and on over the years.

Most of it is expensive, somewhat underpowered, and cheap plastic. Not to mention--HUGE!!! I'm probably going to just end up building something with 3D printed parts (the Open RC "Massey Ferguson" looks great) once I get the printer back up and running (honestly, after being a tiny bit ham-fisted when I shouldn't have been--my plans are to buy a second Adventurer 5M and keep the old one as a parts source).

Diecast Masters has a line of Caterpillar licensed models at several different scales and price points. The mini 1:64 line is the smallest--around 1:87 actually.  Opened it up, and installed the batteries. Controller uses AAAs, but it takes a USB-C cable to charge the loader.

I kind of balked at $20, but Amazon had the 950M marked down to $5. Couldn't say no. Bucket doesn't move, and torque's a little lacking. But, it works great. As expected, the bucket isn't RC. That's only on the bigger ones.

Used the blade to break down a box for recycling and to open up a new package of tissues.

Honestly, at the rate I've been using up tissues this week, I should be buying stock in them.

Broke my glasses, arm snapped in half.
Ducktape, zipties, and the Imperial's scissors all in one fix.

Will see if they still make these frames tomorrow, if not will probably rip the rubber inserts out and epoxy fill the arm.

Our friend Cody could be right about the Gerlach manufacture of the Camillus Sak-a-like.  The tapered screwdriver tip and the saw that looks like a fish scaler look like the way Gerlach made knives.  There are more types than the ones I showed.  This is their all-stainless assortment.  They look like they have separate bolsters.  They don't.  Those are attachment wires to hold the knives on the display board.  Best wishes.  G

Day 18

Fone fiddling last night.  Started making beeps while charging.  Tried a restart.  Tried cleaning USB-C port.  Different outlet.  Switched end on cable.  Zip.  Beep, beep, beep.  Tried charging from power bank.  That worked without beeping.  Tried charging with adapter and different cable.  That worked.  I have eliminated possumbilities by the tried and true try everything method.  I think it is my charging cable.  Those fiends at Dollar Tree.  Sold me a sub-par reject charging cable that only lasted a year.  I have a good mind to go down there and buy another one.
I shot a boring photo of the red beans and rice box yestiddy.  Might as well see how it came out.  I put in a little hamburger and a banana pepper.  The beans were a little firmer than I like.  I like soft red beans, thank you.  Should have put in a little more water and cooked another ten minutes.  I will leave another boring photo of the results.  Enough left over for lunch today.  Tomorrow I will show a photo of me washing the cooking pot.  Watch for it.  Best wishes.  G

Amazing shares GARY

Growing up, I have come to realize, venturing into town just did not occur much!

Warren’s Sporting Goods for my first Shakespeare spinning rod and reel, $12.50 each.   (Still my favorite for blue gill).

And, closest store was in Parchment, a Suburban Drug and a Ben Franklin, we could bike ride to in morning before hay bailing occurred in afternoon after the dew burned off.   But really did not get out much.

And, that area I grew up is pretty much the same now as back then.   We sold that homestead this past winter, Mom lived there till last July.

Great area to have grown up. Everyday a adventure if you  just wondered the woods, the fields and check the pond for frogs…
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!
