Are Leatherman dropping the standard Charge AL from their range?...

I was idly browsing the UK knife/tool websites yesterday and I noticed that a number are showing the standard Leatherman Charge AL as either 'out of stock' or 'unavailable'.  The Charge AL Black is still on sale though. I wondered if Leatherman might be discontinuing the standard AL.

On U.S. Amazon, it shows the Surge is currently $186 - compared to its usual $149 - and is delayed 6-7 months.  Both flavors of Surge are available on the Leatherman website.  So who knows how they do things.  There may be production runs that ebb and flow.

On Reddit r/Leatherman, there was a post several month ago that said the Charge was disappearing in Q3 of 2025, and that a new Wave was on the horizon.  Who knows how much of this stuff is true.  Leatherman customer service once told me that even they aren't told of changes to the lineup until they actually happen.

The Charge+ is not currently available on U.S. Amazon, as far as I can tell.   :ahhh

From what I understand, the Charge is being retired during Q3 of this year.  If I remember correctly, the Free K and T Series are being retired in Q4.

Its always a sad thing when a Leatherman model goes into retirement - especially one like the Juice or Squirt lineup.  But even when one like the OHT disappeared, which I was not a big fan of, I still bought about 4x of them just to fondle, sniff and hug.

I fancied the all black version but, being as I have a standard Charge AL which is BNIB tucked away in my house I really cannot justify it. It was looking for prices on the all black version that made me spot that many places were listing the standard model and 'out of stock' and in one place 'discontinued'.
