It really has flown by, Alan K.  I've enjoyed my PowerPint for awhile now and really like to carry it around along with a MiniChamp.

Thanks, y'awl! :cheers: And good work, as usual. Kaevin's observations on carry methods are interesting. I've found that my PowerLock carries nicely in the "fifth pocket" of my Carhartts. But I'm probably going to switch to belt carry as soon as I find a pouch that I like. Maybe I'll need to make one, or have one made.

Just wanted to,give a huge shout out to Barry for hosting the challenge. I also,wanted to thank Alan, PitCarver, and Kaevin for participating in the challenge. It was great to see what everyone was getting up to during the month. I wanted to thank Alan for introducing me to the Power Duo. I know it has been out for a while, but I don’t have much knowledge of SOG or its products so it was great to learn of this interesting Multitool.

By far the most prolific carry’s for this month seemed to be the PowerPint. It seems that this mighty little tool performed admirably. The next was the PowerLock, a true robust workhorse, followed by the steak and capable P3.

Closing out the month with the PowerDuo. This has been my desk tool since I got it, and the super thin and pointy pliers head has seen many projects from Zippo maintenance to wire twisting to paracord knotting. It was discontinued because the scales cracked at the screw holes on every one of them.  It is essentially a 111mm SAK with pliers and I wish they would bring it back with better scales (maybe titanium) and maybe add a saw or file, and scissors.

Thank you Alan!  I've always loved the Power Duo.  We went through at least 2 sets of scales on Noah's when he had his.
That aside, it reminded me vaguely of the Al Mar and OSS multitools.  I wish they'd bring it back.  I'd be there waiting for the release. 
Thanks for all your insight on SOG.  My experience is pretty limited, but I'm further ahead now.  I hope we can keep some life going on the SOG forum here!  Thanks for being here sir!

Oooh my, how time flew by...already day 30. It has been nice to see the "lesser children of the MT world" perform quite well, as it is a great platform to work with, and having what could be one of the best pliers more so. Barry, thanks for lighting the fire and starting the challenge; to Pit, JonesE, Alan and Kaevin, thanks for a wonderful thread colaboration (and thank you JonesE for being the inspiration for the next project!) and showing the pro's and con's of the tool in realtime. Day 30

Not as eventful as I wish. Busy at the new job. Brought a piece of sponge to clean my mugs. And used the p3 piler to pull away the mint tin lid for storing the sponge.

Got a new 2T harddisk (only had a 256gb, and each source after built is ~30GB+). I was happy thinking I can use the p3 to remove some screws from the PC case.... NOT  :facepalm: Feeling like an idiot not knowing the dell pc case can slide open without undoing any screws. So, pulling away the lid was the last action in this challenge.  :cry:

My thoughts after using p3 for the challenge.

First of all. I just LOVE how smooth this thing opens. Without much tinkering, it can be swung open. And you can adjust how tight or loose each of the pivots.

Secondly, able to take apart completely with regular hex drives is fantastic. Sure an engineer piler, Knipex twin grip or vice grip can take apart the lm or gerber screws, but that makes me less want to take it apart for cleaning or lub.

The tip is fine for detailed work. The combo blade does it job well although I like a straight one more. And I prefer a nic like those on lm rather than a through hole nic. I don't want apple juice or dust getting in the hole.

I did not have the chance to stick a 1/4 sq drive to 1/4 hex adaptor to the Philips of the p3 although I carry them everyday.

The gear at the piler is interesting. First of all obviously it compounds the grip.  But there is also 1 more thing special about it on a MT. One can stuck the piler head into something, and open the handle to apply force outwards. Use case would be something like my son sticking a marker pen cap the wrong way into the container and it got stuck inside. It is trivial on a normal piler, but for mt like a lm, the handle would collapse and fold in. But it is not the case for the p3.

About carrying, the p3 is easy to carry, and I am happy about it.

I really like the P3 and I will carry it and make it into my rotation.
