I'm sure glad that some other lucky person got number 13.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have signed up.  I'm not exactly superstitious, but there is no point in taking chances.
Best wishes, Gary

I would like to see a new member or two join in the challenge.  This is a unique sort of deal.  Only happens once a year, and not every year at that.  Carry almost anything you like as long as it is something on the MTo site.  Challenge starts on July 1, so make your initial post and photo(s) then.  Still a couple of days to sign up.  Best wishes.  G

For reasons that I explained here, next month is going to see me busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. There is a very real possibility that I'd fall too far behind, and one of my projects for next month is critically important. So I'm gonna have to bow out of this one. I hope y'awl have a great time!

Our friend Dan stays in touch pretty well.  He has had a lot to deal with over the last year.  Things will get better, I am sure.  Still time to get in on the challenge.  Might be the last time to apply for this particular badge for a while?  Next year will be the 20th Anniversary.  Special badge then?  Could be.  Here is the correct roll call for today.  Best wishes.  G

Day 1

A bit early but I'm working night. Got myself a new pack! I have used it for everyday things as well as weekend getaways but this time I loaded it up for a day hike in Norway that I am making with my son later this week. Last time I made that hike I had a much bigger pack and more gear and this time we will have a Basecamp and don't need to carry everything with us. So to test it I loaded it up with the right stuff and took a 2 hour hike in pretty bad terrain to see if how it would preform and I'm very happy with the bag

That's a nice looking bag kottskrapa, glad you're enjoying it.

Day 0

As I said before, I'll be skipping the traditonal Day 0 full loadout, since I'll be hitting both Case and GEC tomorrow. However, I will give away one item. I went to Nessmuk (no relation) sporting goods today, and found a honest to goodness "double barrel pocket axe". It's a Marble's and their stuff has always been good to me, so I'll give it a shot. I'll lock in the rest of my carry tomorrow (and I pinky promise not to cheat and carry extra before hand) and it'll actually get to help set up some camp tomorrow evening. This one's gonna be fun!

The undefeated Champ of the multitool world!

I forgot I promised you all some Nessmuk reading to go with the challenge, so here's a bit from Woodcraft and Camping, his ever popular guide to... well, you can probably figure it out.

Quote
"In every circle I have met men who had themselves suffered from nervous collapse due to stress of business, or named friends who had either killed themselves by overwork, or had been permanently incapacitated, or had wasted long periods in endeavors to recover health." Too true. And it is the constant strain, without let-up or relaxation, that, in nine cases out of ten, snaps the cord and ends in what the doctors call "nervous prostration"—something akin to paralysis—from which the sufferer seldom wholly recovers.

Mr. Spencer quotes that quaint old chronicler, Froissart, as saying, "The English take their pleasures sadly, after their fashion"; and thinks if he lived now, he would say of Americans, "they take their pleasures hurriedly, after their fashion." Perhaps.

Get out there, take your time, and enjoy yourselves this month. I'll keep working my way through both this, and hopefully some of his Forest Runes poetry.

Day 1

Being the anniversary challenge I’ve decided to go with the very first MT I used in a challenge and the first badge I earned, the mighty Juice CS4

This was only my second PBMT bought as I wanted something lighter than my Wave and good for travel as it doesn’t have a locking blade which are banned in the UK where I spend most of my time when not home in Sydney

It’s definitely right up there in my top 5 MT’s, possibly my favourite

Day 1

Opi, opi, opi.  Yes, it is going to be an Opinel challenge.  I carried heavy last month.  I'm carrying light today.  The No.8 is almost the same length as my 108mm Victorinox that I carried for.... ages.  Just lighter.  Only 1.6 ounces of sharpness and lightquidity.  That last word got flagged for some reason.  The AI spell corruptor wanted me to substitute high-quality.
Nice to see some last minute additions to roll call.  Pick up a blanket and a pillow and someone will show you to a bunk.  Breakfast is at 8AM.  Oatmeal and coffee.
Best wishes.  G

Awlways good to see a tool with some miles on it.

And Gary, excited to see the Opis. Can't beat them for the size/price.
