Since Gordon got a Neo the curiosity about them has been sated.  For now, anyway.  The olive No.9 sounds like a good-looking practical knife.  Might not be what Opinel wants the man-about-town to carry, but it would work for me.  Victorinox put forward their weak effort at making some blade-free knives, and that may work for some.  I need a blade.  I have all sorts of tools within easy reach.  Work bench.  Tool shed.  Trucks.  I don't have blades lying around.  There is an old Stanley 99 or whatever you call them in a box, but that is it.  The blade stays in my pocket.  Always.  And one good one will do.  Every day this month that has been an Opi with no regrets.  Best wishes.  G

FINAL MINI CHALLENGE

Friend WECSOG did a fine job with his version of the Anniversary Mini Challenge.  Most people played along.  I think some just weren't paying attention.  Nobody is required to play along with the game, but if you don't play games how do you EVER have any fun?
Next mini challenge day will be July 28.  That is next Monday.  Will someone step forward and volunteer to continue the fun?  Just make a post saying something like: IMR, I want to conduct the next mini challenge.  Then tell everyone what the rules are for your version of the challenge.  This will be it for this year's celebration of 19 great years of MTo.  Thanks to all who have competed in the mini challenge and in the big challenge.  Your participation is appreciated.  Let us know.
Best wishes.  G

Day 22

Lighters, left to right:
Brass Zippo. I got this one in the early '90s as part of a promotional from Marlboro, back when I used to smoke. It had some kind of metal insignia on it, but that eventually fell off.
Nickel Zippo. My grandfather retired from 2 or 3 different companies. This Zippo was given to him on his retirement by one of those companies. It has his signature engraved on the back.
The last one is not a Zippo, but a Zenith. I picked it up at a flea market.

The revolver is an H&R 642 in .22 Magnum. I made the pocket holster from a piece of scrap leather. I like these simple revolvers, especially the drop-cylinder ones like this.

Lastly, I believe in carrying a bit of backup cash!

Wow! Ten billion dollars from the Bank of Zimbabwe! Did you by any chance get that from a Nigerian Prince?  Because I think his lawyer sent me an email a few weeks ago, and I was concerned about whether their offer was legit or not. :-\

Day 22

I tried to go the whole month without carrying one of my EDC fixies and I just couldn't do it.  I hung the Wissahickon Critter from my belt this morning to put an end to my trembling hands and cold sweats. I'm feeling much better now.

Day 21:

Finally got one of my regular Classics out--Alox are nice but toothpick and tweezers are nicer.

Need to get a Signature with the slide-out pen. My current Signature has a removable pen, and it's tough to use (seem to recall though, you can clamp it under the tools like with the hook on a 91mm). '

Finally got another Adventure Force (New Bright) micro RC to replace my Bronco on which somehow had a broken steering arm.  Walmart hadn't carried these in a few months, but came back out with a new NASCAR-branded line of generic stock cars (and a slightly wider wheelbase) Honestly, these are the best mini RC around--cheap ($10), decent power (but not an insane amount like the Hot Wheels line), and pretty decent controls (not proportional like HW--but easier to steer because HW mini RC cars don't have steering servos--just tank steering from dual rear motors).

Also, I got a Homer. Been looking at the Jakks Pacific line since it came out, and despite the $5 price on the 2.5" inch figures (and I think the 6" scale ones are only about $15), I never bought one until now. They've got a fairly large portion of the main cast--and are even doing some of the Phil Hartman characters--which previous companies had issues with.

Day 22

Life has been crazy the past week and it's been hard to get posting pics. People getting surgeries, VBS at church, resets and truckload sales at work etc etc. So for day 22 here's a pick of my MKM Yipper I screenshot'd from my TikTok video.

Hope you are able to catch your breath soon. So, the Italians are making the Benchmade 940 now?

You can still get them here on Ebay, both the real ones and reproduction. I don't know why anyone would bother with a repro, but apparently some do. You can also get the 100 Trillion dollar notes but they cost about 60 USD which is more than I want to pay.

That can of powder looks just like the Winchester branded powders here; same colors and everything.

Day 22

Opened some new Corelle sets with the Stockman. My wife and I need more dishes now that we're responsible for hosting holidays, and we wanted something a nicer than the chipped/mismatched/second hand stuff we've been using up until now. I believe this is what the kids call "adulting."

And the final words from Woodcraft and Camping: PREPARE TO TURN IN

Tomorrow I might have to start looking at his poetry.

Day 21 - Got home too late and too exhausted to post

My two assisted up top, the Kershaw Leek and the Ozark Trail D2.  My switch blade from unknown provenance just below them.  It just has Solingen for a tang stamp.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Nice! Thanks for participating.  :like:
That Solingen stiletto is interesting. They're not as utilitarian as the typical automatic, but they're old school and still what I picture when I hear the word "switchblade."

Agreed.  I want to say I've had it since high school (over 35 years ago) but I don't remember how I came across it.  I think it was a gift from a buddy.  The action is still solid on it after all these years but the blade could definitely use some attention.  It hasn't been mistreated just not maintained.

I blame old high school me for that.

Day 23

Opi and the last of the Cheerios.  No, they didn't taste like sweet potato or kale or something.  I think all the veggie fiber and whatnot must have been incorporated into the box cardboard or something.
I will be glad when the AI fiend goes back to whatever fiery abode it arose from.  I have been putting up with ads on MTo for celebrity wives.  A photo teaser of Celeb X and part of his wife's head.  Maybe just a little hair.  Enough to see that some female is standing below it.  Then the sales pitch.  Named Celebrity has most beautiful wife in the world.  See photos.  Or, Named Celebrity's wife will make you gag.  Often it is the same celebrity and presumably the same wife.  Maybe it is just an ad for a celebrity female alone.  Then I get either of the two ads:  Female Celebrity's Bikni photos leave nothing to the imagination.  Yes, that is spelled Bikni.  Or the other variation, Female Celebrity flaunts her HUGE size in photos.  These are not huge females in real life.  I don't know if wearing a Bikni is involved in their HUGE size flaunts or not.  News flash.  This just in.  IMR is NOT interested in celebrity wives whether wearing a Bikni or flaunting their HUGE sizes.
I think it rained enough last night to keep the grass from dying.  I hope none of the baby frogs drowned.  None of them ever learned to swim.  Best wishes.  G

First Svord on the challenge, I think?  We were talking about Altheas on the Opinel thread.  They are shrubs and are best trimmed to stay 5 feet high or so.  You can have some seeds in the fall if you want.  Best wishes.  G
