Very cool parang WECSOG :like:

I recently sold my kukri (Australian knife laws blah blah) so instead of outrageously large how about a couple of outrageously pretty knives from GEC and Case instead

Day 28

Got the Peanut and Walnut Neo. 6 with me today. Here are a couple of hatchets from the camping kit. One is a Plumb Boy Scout style hatchet and the other is a Husqvarna. I did add new sheaths for all of the axes and hatchets as well as redo the handles with boiled linseed oil this summer. Unfortunately, due to work schedule and life stuff no camping for the Joneses this summer.

Day 28

At work today building displays and condensing stuff down, making stuff look good. Carrying the Raven again today and I have to say it's kind of thick behind the edge. I'm not completely satisfied with the factory edge. I may have to completely fix it if I can't put it to ceramic and see if it helps. Don't get me wrong it cuts but it's got effort when pushing through thin cardboard. I like a knife that can zip through material, I have some thick blades that handle this effortlessly and it all comes down to geometry. The blades has a flat grind so it should do decent. Cardboard slicing aside it's a good design, very comfortable and does a good job. I was gripping the knife in a hammer grip upside down pulling it towards me through the cardboard. I didn't feel any threat of lock failure or that the knife might do something crazy. Just need to get that edge where I want it, maybe even lay the angle back some. Hmmm

In an effort to get all of my newly re-found stuff posted, before I hide it from myself again, today we have a trio of misc key shaped doodads.

And for the micro challenge, Im putting forth , again, my tea crate hammer.  I haven't needed a hatchet in forever.  My axe is out in the big shed and all my machetes are out in the cart shed, and it's simply too hot to go out and grab anything today.

Bonus points for in use photos?  With a heat index of nearly 105°, not today.

Day28
The big knife/machete/nata looking one is an Aranyik Etoh, and its one of my favorite choppers and what I usually grab for small kindling.
The tomahawk is a simple wrapped eye made by a friend 20yrs ago and has been with me on many a hike and hunt. The current handle is just an 18in piece of 1x2 oak I added in a hurry years ago as a replacement but never got around to giving it a proper handle. It works.

While I have a bunch of other axes, hatchets and hawks these plus my Fiskars 24in (origonal gen1, pre X-series) are my go to on the ocasions I need them. Though given I'm dealing with more brush than wood the Razorback shown earlier has gotten more work in a month than these have in recent years.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Found a couple small magnets that weren't out in the shed, for the micro challenge.
The kukri style is a Mossy Oak brand while the Bowie style is is a Schrade.   Both of them come from the local Tractor Supply. ,

Day 27:

Broke loose a print in place axle for a Jeep chassis.

I think I still need to do some manual calibration, as I'm still having quality issues.

You know, I probably should've thought about how wandering off into the woods for a couple days would impact my posts. Oh well, it did provide a lot of good pics. Catch up/photo dump:

Day 24

Used the axe to make charcoal smaller for the smoker (and also break down some wood for the regular fire). Tried the sharp side, dull side, and my friend's (very dull) axe. Even with the lighter head, the sharpened axe split wood better. The dull side did pretty well for the charcoal. Nice and brittle so it just smashed like a hammer.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Day 25

The fixed blade finally got to do some kitchen work. Chopped veggies, sliced grilled cheese, etc. That wide blade makes it a good spatula if you don't have one. (Nessmuk would probably tell me to make one out of tree bark.)

Day 26

The Stockman was the real workhorse, though. It shaved the bark off some wood.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Sliced a tomato (well on its way to a nice patina).

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And whittled an extra stake that made it through a pretty rough storm.

Day 27

Unfortunately, I left the axe on the camp table in the storm, so it got a bit of surface rust. Nothing that won't clean off. (Make up day early Monday challenge?)

Day 28

Cleaned the Stockman up once I got home. It's definitely made its way up to "well loved" this month. Needed only a quick strop to get back to get back to shaving sharp.

Day 28 - ridiculously large knife or axe

1. Dad's old clicking hatchet when he used to work in the shoe factory.
2. Grandpa's old hatchet that I need to clean up and make a new handle for.
3. My Hart hatchet that sees a good amount of use though the handle material is subpar.  Need to replace it with something else.
4. Ridge Runner machete.  Looks pretty imposing in the hand.  :D
5. Gerber Machete Gator.  This one sees a lot of use as well but... it's also the most neglected.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.
