Day 06

Had to extract a SD card which was stuck. The pliers are delicate enough for this job.

Day 6

No relation to the challenge. I just want to show off this bread I baked.

It tasted good! I was a little worried since I haven't done a loaf in probably half a year, but it turned out really well. I think since it's been a while I was more careful than usual and it paid off.

Day 7

Complaining about the annoying shower curtain over your jet tub is definitely a first world problem, but I would honestly have preferred a "regular" tub. I had one apartment where the back was "open" and I really liked that. Anyway, had to snug up some screws. The tip of the Wenger cap lifter is a tad slimmer than the Vic version. It also has a semi-lock that makes it hard to fold the driver under pressure, an improvement that Vic should carry over to the rest of the range now (a decade ago) that they have the Wenger patents. I awlways say I'd rather have a locking driver than a knife blade. It probably won't lop my finger off, but it is a lot more likely to fold under "normal" usage.

Seiko Baby Turtle, probably my favorite watch.

Feeling a little tight today, XLT to the rescue.

Nothing that the Scale Pin can’t fix.

Tools use so far.

1) Awl
2) Large Blade
3) Large Flathead
4) Small Blade
5) Corkscrew Mini Screwdriver
6) Scale Pin

Oh yes that would be nice.

It is a super comfortable watch to wear with the case being smooth and rounded.

Nice Turtle... My favourite watch, on my wrist as we speak.

That looks like a full-size, not a baby Turtle?

Day 8

The Wenger can opener has one of my favorite profiles. That angled claw is great for opening just about anything. Awlso, I really appreciate the key chain on these large knives, makes it easier to fish out of the pocket.

Day 8

Tipping the scales challenge accepted.

So this Explorer belonged to my wife and it lived a hard life. Was finally left on the fence next to her garden and forgotten.

No it doesn’t have two different scales on it. Just lost all of its blue in the sun.

Cleaned it up with dish soap, mineral oil and replaced the scales with some I had laying around in the tackle box of parts.

Goodish as new.

Just so I would be Mad Max compliant the Swisschamp was used to remove the to small Explorers scales.

You'd think I'd have remembered my own challenge...

Cool scale swap. That bleached scale is interesting. Make sure you apply for that badge.

Officially, the TC+ weighs just under 220g. I grabbed the kitchen scale and confimed:
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

So, how much gear is that? How about a Bear Jaws multitool, flash drive, pen, comb, and a handkerchief? (I think it's probably over by a gram or two, so cut the hankie in half I guess.)
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

But, can you really put a weight on your wife yelling down from the kitchen, "There's too many tools on here! Which one is the scissors?"

Yes, there is a badge for changing your scales on a Victorinox tool.  Only need do it once.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

One of the smaller differences between Vic and Wenger. The saws are nearly the same, but here's no cleaner tip on the metal saw/file.

Hawkbill is a handy package opener. I wonder if you could make one of those "impossible" chairs out of SAKs.

How much cutting surface does each have? I'll take a measurement later.

Classic computing with 8 bits in Hardware
I remember those days...and not entirely fondly. The first computer I used was an Apple IIE, which used the big ol' floppy disks that probably held 0.001% of what my 128GD SD cards can.
