Day 9

Cut some tags off some new shorts, and cut up some limes for tonight's dinner.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I do like the covers on your MOOSE!🥰
 LC!

I agree the polished black G-10 has an understated classy look, and is very durable to boot.

DAY 10.  I saw the Buck Moon early this morning and took that as a sign that I should carry the 319.

BUCK MOON!

I thought it to be quite unique last night about midnight.

Was out observing the ISS passing almost directly overhead, 86.9 degrees to my south.   Sky was clear and moon was full, low in SE sky.

Air was mid 70s and sky was super clear peppered with stars and very few whispery clouds.

Magical is how i would describe!😜

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Day 10

New lightweight knife day, and I found something even lighter than the last 🤯.  The Gerber Ultralight LST weighs in at only 0.6 ounces!  It’s very similar to the Case Caliber, but a little smaller (size comparison pics added).  I wonder if both were made in the same factory somewhere in China.  Like the Caliber, the Ultralight LST feels very well made for a cheap lightweight knife.

Both US-made, the Case in Bradford, PA and the Gerber in Portland, OR.

Good to know!  Gerber manufactures some of its knives/tools in China, so I was just assuming.

Great comparison post today Rich. It was interesting to see the slight variations on a similar theme.

Day 11

The dogs woke me up this morning, and after caring for their needs, I will take a trip across the county to my homestead and gather mail, and a few supplies.

My tool,  a pretty spear point TB design

Day 11

No work today, so I get to carry whatever I want.  This weekend, I think I'll carry my favorite pocket knife.  This is my Buck 303.  I retired my original 303 and replaced it with this one.  If I'm reading the tang stamp correctly, it was 2021, but it doesn't feel like it was that long ago.  I guess time flies.  The size is perfect and I like the variety of blades... plus I am partial to Buck  8)

Day 11

Still rocking the Case 3375 Stockman. In the first pic you can see it reclining on the seat of my TW200, overlooking Lake Superior.

Later (second pic) I loaded the TW back in the van and repositioned the ramp to a better spot. The D rings were insanely tight so I used the sheepsfoot on the '75 to pry them up to accept the ratchet strap hooks.

Day 11

My son and I took a short trip this afternoon to The Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle. They had an exhibit lead by a South African artist Ralph Ziman that transforms a MiG-21 fighter jet into a work of art. The aircraft is covered by tiny multicolored glass beads. The exhibit is truly impressive and we were so glad we got the opportunity to see it.

The Peanut join us in our visit.

The beaded MIG next to the first 747.

Day 11

Used the Case to open a bag of apple wood chunks for smoking but failed to take an action picture.  Here are some glamour shots instead.

I always thought that Barlows looked good but I never paid enough attention to appreciate them until now.  This one cleaned up very well.  I wish I had taken before pictures.  It looked like it had been rode hard and put away wet, many times.  The brass shined up real nice on the liners and I'm liking the patina on the blades.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

DAY 11.  I didn't get this posted yesterday because I have a new laptop without a port for SD cards.  Transfer of docs and photos has been...interesting.

Case with an Opinel knock-off.

A very good looking CASE version of the Barlow pattern.

I too, have grown fond of the pattern, yet has not been on my BUY list! 😊

I can not explain why  :dunno:

I know when a youngster I had a couple BARLOWS, and if I remember correctly, my grandmother had given to me for use on the vegetable farm.  Said they were included in a bag of flour she bought, and also said when she was a young girl, other items were included, like a small revolver, or kitchen accessories.

I do remember the bags were cloth and 5# and larger that she bought.

Flour was used with bread making, sweet cakes, gravy and other fancy items she would whip up.

Likely how cereal manufactures got the idea to but toys in boxes.

Nice job on cleaning and sharing your BARLOW!

Maybe Steve will share a few of his this month…

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 12

A mini trapper is just right for pocket duty this steamy Saturday morning.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And, just had to compare it side by side with my  CS ‘75 Stockman.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Also, as both are stunning, pointing out CASE just does a nice job of producing nice covers, 6.5 stag bone on the mini and Amber bone on Stockman
