I’ve not clicked the links, but replaceable cutters are just that - replaceable. If you have them fitted and need to send your Surge in for warranty, just take them out and send it without any.Personally, I’d carry an extra knife as a backup before I messed about changing blades on a multitool in a worst case scenario.Have you bought your Leatherman yet?We like pictures, you know.
(Image removed from quote.)My name is Betto, and I'm now a proud owner of the Leatherman SURGE. 🤘🏻
I'm with Antti and Gary. Test out the original blades before you modify your Surge. For whatever it's worth, I found that VG-10 was a little...lacking where edge retention was concerned. As for the replacement wire cutters, I'd probably stick with Leatherman. They're just over half the cost of the AliExpress jobs, and you know they'll fit properly. If Leatherman won't ship directly to you, I'm sure one of the members of this fantastic board will be happy to help you out.https://www.leatherman.com/collections/replacement-parts/products/replacement-wire-cutter-kitAnd if you do decide to mod your Surge, invest in a tamper-proof Torx bit kit that contains T6 and T8.
Are these replacement parts from AliExpress good?
Do they look legitimate? Are the prices fair?
Does it void the warranty?
Maybe, but very likely "no". A lot of the knives on AliExpress use cheap steel. It claims that it's VG10, but at that price, it's almost certainly a cheap Chinese variant."Legitimate" as in you'll actually receive something? Yes, I am sure you'll receive a blade of questionable quality. If the price is fair is a personal judgement.Yep.
Indeed I have. I bought the SURGE. I posted it the same hour I got it.Edit: What's wrong with the links?
