Day 30

I learned this morning, I must submit my most utilized SPARTANs for inspection!!!

Characters in lab coats demanded access!

There was no arguing. I could only stand by (me in blue)
And documented their visit with quick discreet pictures.

This month has seemed to pass by more quickly than expected, maybe due to the excellent group assembled to share the journey.

Thank you BARRY for hosting this adventure and to my fellow SPARTAN adventurers  :woohoo: :hatsoff:

I am off to polish up a couple PSTs and gather items that are RED!   (I am repeating one and a new adventure is the other!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

my thoughts on the Spartan

It is a great minimalist MT, fo shizzle.  And qualifies for the Minimal SAK Challenge badge.  I might go with the Compact in the same 2-layer size to get the scissors, but I always carry a 58mm with scissors so that's a non-issue.  The Tinker competes strongly against the Spartan in order to get the real 3D phillips driver on the back instead of the corkscrew, but that's not a great location for a phillips driver.  So the Spartan is a strong contender for best 2-layer, depending on your needs IMO.

Day 30: I have a special place in my heart for the Spartan.  I agree with Powernoodle in that it's a strong contender for best two layer SAK.  I have loved using mine in challenges over the years.  It, combined with a keychain scissors tool, just about covers everything I do.  I only had to resort to the Work Champ pliers a couple of times; otherwise, the Spartan did everything I needed.  Is so thin and light that it's easy to forget it's there.  I find that I use a blade more than anything else, but it's sure nice to have the rest of that tool set around.
Everyone, outstanding job this month!  Great pics, uses, and fun!  There's a Spartan Badge to claim if you don't have one.
On a similar note, I'm kicking the idea around of doing a Climber Challenge next year.  Let me know what you think.

 :viking: :viking: Well done Spartans!

i'd likely be out on that one. There are no Climbers in my pile of SAKs, and I'm extremely unlikely to buy another SAK that's under 111mm. But I'd follow along.

Just saying, I could send you a CAMO Climber I pulled from the SOS24 box a while ago. 🤪

Day 30: Final challenge day, the month really did fly by! I really enjoyed taking part and seeing everyone’s daily posts, and uses for the Spartan — such a great group of people.   Thanks everyone for a great month, and Barry for hosting! I will definitely try and participate in the climber challenge if I can.

Thoughts on the Spartan: really like it for dialy use, and I found myself using the main blade and combo tool the most. The 91mm , 2 layer package is pretty hard to beat for me!

Day 30

Amazing how quickly the month has gone by - and I learned that the Spartan accomplished 90% of what I needed - up until today I got everything done except for a few times I needed pliers. Also, tonight I found I needed a #1 Phillips head to fix a vacuum and the can opener driver did not work at all and I had to resort to my Workchamp. Other than that, it worked great. I am also a user of Serrated blades and so this is the perfect companion knife to have when I am carrying a MT without a serrated blade. All in all, it is a great carry.

I will enjoy  seeing some of you in the PST challenge next month.

Thanks, Barry, for organizing and hosting this one.

Day 30
Final group photo.

Thank you, Barry, for hosting the fun challenge!

Ma favourite from the group is the S101.
My usual carry is a single layer 84mm so Spartan is for me going a full size! Definitely great knife and one more than sufficient for my daily needs.

As the Climber is my second favourite for an urban EDC knife, count me in!

On a similar note, I'm kicking the idea around of doing a Climber Challenge next year.  Let me know what you think.

It means your file size is above 512KB. I get that every day!
Whittling down my pictures in order to be able to post them here is really dull work.

Final Picture (day 33?):

To finish the challenge, here's a picture of the Spartan troop brought together.
I regard the PS as the most beautiful pocket knife in the world, but the old and well used black is my favourite. It has more "our" stories to tell than all the other combined.

As for the challenge:
It has been a blast. I have always thought there was something irrational in my liking the Spartan, but now I see it has some rationality behing it: It does the job, is discreet and much thinner than most other knifes that get the job done. All right I prefer to have scissros and nailfile with me (and that's why I carry a Mountaineer on an averyday basis), but this month showed me again that there's always a nailcutter or scissros in a drawer nearby.
I picked a Compact to use at home because it is a two-layer with scissors and file, and would not be too bulky in the pocket at night (yeah, I'm one of the few nuts who go to bed with a folder in the pocket), but I don't trust the combo tool, and the Spartan is even thinner, so I guess I'll be changing knifes again.
Thank you very much, Barry. It was a funny learming experience!

There's crazy people in the world, buddy. You just met one of the craziest!
It all started with a Ka-bar Mule when I lived at the farm and sometimes was awakened in the middle of the night and had to hurry off to some emergency. Over the years and sleepless nights it shrak to a two-layer SAK (or an 84mm Waiter).

You have to admire someone who sleeps with a SAK in his pocket.  #LegendStatus
