Day 2:

Using the awl to remove the air filter from the furnace to swap with the clean one.

Whenever people ask what you use the awl on the 93mm for, it’s this kind of random stuff. Some times a pokey bit of metal is what you need to improvise a solution to a task.

Opened a gift from Pauldmmwc
What is it? And :salute: to Paul!

How about a photo of some steamy hot black-eyed peas?
:like: I need to make some bean soup!

The combo edge actually can slice onions!
I think it's the best combo edge I've yet seen!

Vanity pic to start things off.

My wife's jelly didn't have the peel tab. Ol' Red made it awlright.
That's what SAKs do best!

Bonus photo of the doggo, since he was looking so cute and definitely wasn't just cuddling because he knows that's a good way to get snacks.
More photos of the corgi are most welcome!

:iagree:

Great work, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 2

Barely into the challenge, and I've awlready had to call in reinforcements. But I figured that since I have a job interview tomorrow, trimming the umpteen loose threads off my shirt was better than burning them.

In ROTC on inspection days a SAK classic was in my pocket for that very reason.  Some did the lighter thing, but the Classic scissors worked the best.  Good luck on the interview, you got this.

The gift was a Leatherman mug.

The awl is great for certain little tasks that you don’t realize until they present themselves.

I really like the US 111, with its blackout tools! I'll have to watch for one of those.
Someone on ebay has some GAKs that (according to the picture) have a standard edge OHO blade. They're in Lithuania though. I'm afraid that a. the import duties will be bad, and b. it will arrive and be serrated. Still might do it though, anyway.

Day 2: I never noticed this before.  The Hunter is the only 111 I've seen with an eyelet in the awl.

Day 2

Happy Marmot Monday everyone.  I walked around a little.  I saw what looked like lines of coyote tracks, but didn't toddle down to them to investigate.  I have seen plenty of them before, sometimes with the coyote still standing in them.  I pity the poor groundhog that pokes his nose out of a warm den to check for a shadow in the  (6F degree) snow.  There is probably a canid waiting nearby.
I read where researchers had a coyote with a tracker on it.  They set out some food, and the coyote lay hidden in the bushes for 13 hours straight without moving.  Just watching.
Duke Energy sent out a text.  All customers are to cut back on unnecessary power usage or face blackouts.  Their nuclear reactor must have sprained a neutron or something.  I figured I had better make some toast while the juice was still on.  Time for a photo.  Best wishes.  G

I was wondering where my two besties landed this month!  Joined Dan’s 90 day ordeal!
I will follow along, if curious, , the last minute I joined the Combo Edge challenge

Spent most of Sunday returning BLACK type items to their designated holding zones. Then later returned to those zones to locate some of the few COMBO BLADES I do own.    :dunno: I never realized, or it has been a long time since last deployment, my two GERBER MTs sport SE blades with CE

Stay warm, snowing again in my world, so no sun.
Folk here have been threatening either BBQing a woodchuck, or stuffing into a crockpot if he called for 6 more weeks of this winter.

I hope those fools in what’s Pennsylvania, let the little guy sleep a bit longer.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Hey buddy!  Yessir, bright and sunny so Phil will definitely see his shadow   .  Woke up to 0 degrees F this morning.  I'm getting used to carrying something with some weight again after a month of the Classic.
Keep warm!

I did the Combo Edge Challenge last year.  It was well hosted and had some fun members.  That challenge gave me an excuse to carry something I had been ignoring for years.  A Gerber EZ-Out.  Owned it for a long time but never carried it or used it for anything at all.  I did carry a Wingman also.  Not many combo edge knives or multis in my cabinet.
I enjoyed the dog photo.  Ordinarily if someone wanted me to tend a dog for three weeks and they never came back for it, I would be peeved.  The Dragon corgi would be very welcome to stay permanently.
Best wishes.  G

The 93mm awl is a multitool unto itself.

My friend got a new laser cutter and made me some SAK themed jigsaw puzzles. Will post pics once I assemble them.

Nice.  I like walking sticks.  Generally I use a six foot pole pruner.  Then I can clip branches or whatever.  I would like to be walking outside.  Maybe tomorrow.  Best wishes.  G

The Soldier was used for the Sisyphean task of tightening this stupid handle on the fridge. I think it just needs to be replaced entirely. The 'cage' is Banzai's (my sister named him) crate — it's kind of like his safe place and he spends a few hours of every day in there. When he's not sitting on the windowsill waiting for Julia to get back... And here's the big guy posing with the Soldier.

:like: And thanks for the encouragement with the interview. :hatsoff: I think I did well.

I think others may have the sewing eye as well.

All customers are to cut back on unnecessary power usage or face blackouts.  Their nuclear reactor must have sprained a neutron or something.
You still have power. Things could definitely be worse.

Ironwood is very cool stuff! :tu: I'll let you know pronto if I run across a USCK.

A lefty Rickenbacker bass, eh? I'd like to see a "whole body" photo of it!

Helped with peeling oranges.
An ideal food for this time of year!

Day 3

Today's job interview meant traveling light, so the USCK stayed at home. It does have an excellent cap lifter...whose liner lock will take some getting used to if you've been around smaller SAKs for much of your life.

Haha, yes, I am very much against dogcarceration, don't worry! Actually, the crate is a new experience for me and Julia; with our old dog, Remi, we didn't even own a crate, but Banzai came 'crate-trained' and seems to genuinely enjoy spending time in there.

Nice Rick!  :like:

Other than it being wrong-handed?  :D

Just kidding.  Other than it being left-handed, it looks like a  nice 4001 or 4003. I’m not a Rickenbacker expert, though.

No, that's it haha — the wrong-handedness. It's a major pain in the rear trying to find left-handed instruments and I'm glad that they make a 4003 for lefties.

Yeah, that’s awesome. After Sir Paul used one, I think they’re obligated to always make a lefty version.

Banzai is adorable.

I know some people think crates are mean and they can be depending on how people use them.  I also know for  some dogs they are exactly as you describe a “safe place”.  Fisher doesn’t use his crate as often now that he is older but he still sometimes uses it.  We have a soft-sided tent/crate that we take traveling so he has his own safe space despite being in a strange place.
