Day 28: Used the Soldier to open a package with a new(-to-me) type of SAK. I will share some photos in another thread, but it's a really cool little SAK. I'm going to carry it for a week or so after the challenge and then try to write an actual review about it. I love the Soldier to death but I'll be glad when I can carry around a SAK with scale tools again :D.

Personally, when carrying 93mm, I don’t miss the scale tools much but I do miss the back tools.

I like the scale tools, but I usually carry a Placker so I'm not really missing the toothpick. I do really like the deluxe scales on my Swisschamp because they carry not only toothpick and tweezers, but awlso a pen and a pin. I'll probably retrofit some of those to my Deluxe Tinker at some point.

Day 29: Just one day left! Here's the Soldier with the scales I'm going to swap onto my Work Champ. Before the Soldier On challenge I'd started using the Work Champ almost as a replacement for my SC. So I figured why not put some GITD scales on it and just use t as my around-the-house model — leave it on my nightstand at night, etc. Unfortunately I couldn't find GITD 111mm scales that didn't say Rescue Tool, but meh.

Day 30: Last day of the 30-day challenge. Here's the final sub-challenge photo as well: the photo of the military(-adjacent) candy. I figured I'd use a Hershey's product, since Hershey's is the company that produces the 'Military Chocolate' included in military rations. Apparently during WWII the production of Kisses was suspended, as the foil needed to be repurposed for the military chocolate kits. I've also tried to be super-patriotic (of my adoptive country), viz. the red, white, and blue, haha.

Edited to add: thanks Barry! He loves that park. I'll try to add a photo of him at his favourite spot in that park in a second.

Also, should I now apply for the badge for the challenge, since the 30 days is over? And do those sub-challenges have concomitant badges?

Apply any time now for your Soldier 30 badge.  No mini-challenge badges.  They are just for fun.  Nice photos.   Best wishes.  G

You know, I think I may just stay in for the full 90 days... I like the look of the 90 day badge a lot. But I already requested the 30-day version. Does that make me ineligible to continue for the next 60 days? If I had the opportunity to do this challenge again I definitely would have chosen a different Soldier model, viz. the 111mm GAK or possibly the Parachutist (since I think that one was used by certain militaries) — or maybe even the 108mm Soldier. But this was definitely a fun challenge (and the first one I've done).

IIRC from previous challenges, the mods just replace the 30 with the 90 when you do an extension (don't tell them they forgot to do that for one of mine... )

I'll be sticking it out for the full 90 as well.

Took the kids on a field trip today and drove a full size van for the first time. Wasn't as bad as I expected.

Another walking stick. I'm not sure what kind of wood this one is. I'm letting it dry some more before I peel the bark.

Day 34: used the Soldier to cut some steak! Ended up being a bit more cooked than I usually like, but it was still delicious! Julia made some potatoes to go with the steak — definitely one of my favourite meals. The Soldier is razor-sharp and made quick work of the steak. It certainly worked better than some of the steak knives we have at home.
