Yes, if the spoon was stubby, you would have to risk burning your fingers to reach down inside the pouch.  While everyone is talking MREs, I decided to post a couple of photos of some typical contents.  Main part of the meal might be something like vegetable lasagna, or maybe some kind of pasta.  Crackers, tootsie, poptarts, spoon with napkin and sprinkle on packets.  Jelly.  That sort of thing.  I never saw pizza.  That sounds pretty good actually.
Best wishes.  G

Y'awl continue to do an excellent job! :salute:

Here's a little challenge support action, featuring a Hot Wheels Mini that Angie surprised me with.

HQ, can we request mini-challenge support? Morale is starting to dip out here in the field. If we don't hear back, I'll come up with something for the weekend.

Dan, I love those BO Soldiers so much. I've been eyeing one for a while, now... Gary, your description of the MRE actually makes me think of airplane food. And I don't mean that in a pejorative manner; I just mean that it kind of reminds of the types of items that one would expect to receive in an airline meal.

Day 40: Here's my Soldier cutting apples, and the Soldier along with a new-to-me model (and colour) from our friend Dan.

I couldn't resist! Top: US M1917 (S&W) .45 revolver. Bottom: 1911a1 .45 pistol. And of course, the '08 Soldier.

Nice photo, Brick.  It has been a while since I have seen a Klingon Soldier's Dagger.  I can tell by the black finish that it is the Wenger model.  I started to post a photo of mine (Victorinox) while I was doing this challenge, but couldn't find it.  Best wishes,  G

Replaced the aerator in my wife's bathroom sink. Ol' Red not needed for the actual project, but the awl powerful awl did open the box.

After awl this time, I finally get to use the awl! :woohoo:
I needed a hole in this stick for a thong. What better tool (that you might actually have with you in the field) than the awl!

Day 41: I used the Soldier to hold a couple more books open. I've had a few very late nights dealing with some tricky verbs in Vedic and Old Avestan... I'm so close, though. The end is in sight! And here's a bonus with my moral support animal. He sits with me whilst I'm reading until I'm ready to go to bed, the sweet little guy.

Awhile back, someone asked to see my old Case Trapper that I've had for probably 50 years. I finally dug it out, and here it is posing with its much younger sibling who is currently serving in the Army.

Day 42: Here I am watching the show that started it all for many (so I hear). It's actually my first time watching haha. It's not bad! And I love seeing the SAKs in (many) episodes. I'm on season 2 episode 18 'Partners'. Some wacky hairstyles they had back then.

Day 43: Here are the two blades I carried today. I love both of them. I'm trying to decide what exactly I need to take for a long-ish hike tomorrow. We're going to the bottom of this gorge over which that guy that fell off a building and died in Puerto Rico (on camera) walked across on a tightrope.

The great Karl Wallenda.  I remember the Tallulah Gorge walk well.  There used to be a store by the top of the road that sold their famous peanut log candy roll.  There was a very nice stopover location at the store.  I tried some of the peanut log that someone else had bought.  Not something I liked at all.  Standing at the top of the gorge and looking over always gave me a very unpleasant feeling.  Not related to the icky peanut log.
I remember spending some wonderful days on that river and fishing.  I haven't thought of that in years.
Best wishes.  G

Yes! That's the one. There's actually a nice little coffee shop there with delicious sandwiches nowadays. We've gone a-walking around that area a few times but never gone to the bottom. Julia is extremely active and fit — me not so much — and she keeps dragging my butt up mountains and down gorges and hiking and climbing. We have very different personalities when it comes to just about everything. But for some reason, 15 years later (April 1st), we're still together. We've actually now outlasted both of our parents' (i.e. my biological mom and dad and her biological mom and dad) marriages put together. I'll be sure to take some photos of the hike!

Needed a dowel for a project. I used the saw to cut a stick of just over the needed diameter, the blade to peel the bark and whittle to fit, then hammered it in and used the saw again to cut the excess. I needed to thread a screw into the dowel so I drilled an undersize hole and used the awl to ream it enough to start the screw.

Holy crap, so we went on the hike. I don't think I've ever been as tired as I was on the climb up the rock face. Honestly, for a few minutes I couldn't even see because I was just on the verge of passing out . Got some cool photos, though!

In all the excitement I forgot to actually post the Soldier photo . Here's the Soldier alongside a small coin that I bought (for a very reasonable price) from the Tallulah Gorge visitor's centre today. And there are some other photos from the gorge walk (that almost killed me).

Clever use of the Soldier for the project and looks like a great hike. Gotta get caught up today. In the meantime, here's a mini challenge to boost your morale for this week:

Mail Call: Show your Soldier with a letter. That's right, an honest to God, handwritten, on a piece of paper, letter. (minichallenges are for personal satisfaction only, and therefore no one will be penalized if you chose to type/email yours.) Write to yourself, hand deliver it to someone who lives nearby, or actually put a stamp on it and mail it, whatever. If you need someone to mail it to, PM me and I'll send my address.

I'll try to post one every weekend for the remainder of the challenge. If anyone has a fun idea and wants to "adopt" a weekend, let me know.

My dad is obsessed with the Guinness "depth charge." Was using a can that had one in a recipe so I cut it open and snapped a pic for him.
