I have something similar to a Champ that I’d like to remove the awl, blades, and saw to make it OK to carryon.
I don't mean to rain on your parade, but the mods you're asking for aren't completely straightforward: since the blades, awl and saw are on different layers, removing them will either require losing other implements (chief among them the corkscrew and openers) or modding some tools to transfer them to a different layer. It is feasible but it isn't the most obvious mod.On a separate note, many members of this forum have reported that anything that looks like a knife, whether it has a blade or not, can be seized at an airport. Even if you get what you expect, trying to carry it on a plane will entail a risk. But even if you can't travel with it, this sounds like a nice mod to have so I hope a US modder replies to your request.
If I just didn't want the blades for some reason, it would be an easy mod to just take them off with a grinder. Leaving the tangs in place would leave your alignment, etc for the other tools intact. Quick, easy, free. Do it yourself. Not an elegant solution, I will add. I have to agree with our friend Combo here. TSA employees will see 'knife' no matter what you tell them, and it will go right in the bucket behind the desk. Won't do anything but bring grief to argue with them. The five post limit can't prohibit you from making any transactions. It is only there to stop people from popping onto the site to sell things which might be a scam to begin with or skin someone into shipping them an item. If you ship a knife to someone, it obviously isn't a scam on your end. If someone pipes up from the blue and says they will do the work just send them the knife and a money order, then that might be a scam. There are people on the site who have been here a while and done work for the members without complaint. Seek those out if you choose to go ahead. Best wishes. G
