Day 13

Didn't break it out today so here's a glamour shot instead.

My footwear rotates between sandals, sneakers, cowboy boots, and my Doc Marten boots.

* Around the house I'm in sandals.
* If we're going to the kids soccer games it's sneaker time.
* Working around the house it's my steel toed Docs.
* If we're going to be running errands, or heading out to dinner with the familia, it's either "nicer" sneakers, cowboy boots, or my regular Docs.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I opened up some new sneakers...

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

...and after a quick walk to Dollar Tree, I was reminded of how much and why I detest sneakers.

That is not a brand I would buy, in person or online!  Stylish maybe but not made for feet.

No all shoes or sandals or slippers made the same. And your comfort should never be compromised.

Footwear remains one product I MUST try on in person, before I buy.  And so far, online ordering regardless of size charts and promises on the site, never have I kept a pair of boots or shoes.

Which you good thoughts to find comfort and confidence in footwear. Quality should not be a compromise.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The beauty of a SPIRIT can take your breath away.   With the SE Butterblade, it can cut your tongue out as well if you start to

Very nice Cases!   :like:

Day 14

Just relaxed around the house today with the family as the wife and I went out for her birthday dinner last night.  Used the PE to cut open a new fridge filter.

The SE edge excelled at cutting up this cardboard to make a temporary cover.

I’m curious what your preferred footwear is.
I've been wearing work and combat boots nearly every day for the past 25 years. Considering the jobs I've had over that time, they just make sense. And I find them much easier to care for than sneakers.

The 75 is just there wishing it was a SE too...
The 75 looks great as it is! :tu:

Happy belated birthday, Mrs. AzteCypher! :drink:

Day 15

I didn't realize until I cut an onion this evening that this blade has taken on some patina. :woohoo: Or maybe that was from cutting the onion. The serrated portion handed the onion with ease.

Day 15 + Mini

I have the supplies, but not needed immediately as I have prepared meals to serve me until Tuesday.

The OHT can easily open the can of beans and my VAGABOND combo tool can also remove the bottle’s cap almost effortlessly.

You meant, you were not expecting to see a 58mm combo tool?

It has been in my pocket for EDC since the mid 90s.

Lifting bottle caps, opening toy battery compartments, etc, like forever.

Well I was not, but I was - what came to mind first was the combo tool on the Victorinox Compact,  but then I remembered about the combo bottle opener and screwdriver on the minichamp.  Then I figured that others forgot about it like I did.  And then one of us would remember.   :ahhh

Now I'm wishing I had some bratwurst!

Day 15

Combination of Combos mini-challenge

Yesterday's post should have read Day 14. Here is the correct Day 15: The USCK with a Rambler. I have turned screws that were in such tight spots that a 58mm combo tool was the only hope I had for extraction. Of course, the 111mm combo edge works great for most every cutting task I could think of.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And I believe I forgot to post the Day 12 photo. So I'll fix that now.

Day 15

I thought I was set for the mini-challenge.... I'll pull out the brats I have in the freezer.  Nope, apparently I ate those 2 weeks ago.  Fine, I'll pull out the baked beans.  Nope, those are actually refried beans.
No worries, I have put brats and baked beans on the grocery list already.

Great... Ok, I can at least pull out a beer.  Nope, it's Guinness... oh wait!

The Aitor can open the can of beans and can pop open the bottle.  My Buck Whittaker 760T kept it company.

The Whittaker is pretty to look at but I don't think those half acrylic scales will hold up well.  I only carry it every now and then because of it.

Day 17

PST II in the pocket today.

Preparing to head out for a travel presentation for VIKING CRUISES.

Getting a head start, reviewing possible destinations after freeing a calendar from the cellophane wrapper.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I may have mentioned before, but the combo blade on the PST II is most practical as the SE shares 50% of the blade space with the PE.   On a shorter blade this makes the Combo edge most practical in my eyes.

Day 17

The Buck Whittaker was pretty busy today.  We had mail call.

Wife wanted me to use better manners than a Neanderthal so I had to cut open a package of napkins.

And we had package duty.

The contents of said package may or may not have a combo edge and may or may not make an appearance before this challenge is over.

Mini Challenge Announcement.

On Day 20 -

The Right Tool for the Job

It's been said that plain edges are best at cutting natural materials like food, wood and jute cord.  Serrated edges excel at synthetic materials like plastic, nylon, and paracord.

In a twist from the first mini challenge, cut two things - one synthetic or man-made material, and one natural material.  Cut each however you find it most natural for you.  Post one picture and comment on any pros or cons of how your combo edge handled each task

The inspiration for this challenge is the time that I had some heavy duty, thick plastic liner that I was fitting into a crate.  In taking haphazard swipes at the plastic to get it down to a manageable size, with one hand I noted pretty clearly that if I caught the plastic with the plain edge it would slide away from me.  If I caught it with the serrated edge, it would catch, cut, and follow through with the plain edge.  After doing that I sat down and snacked on an apple which I cut with the same Leatherman Skeletool.   As I munched away, I thought was one place where I thought the combo edge really did the trick.
