Had a bad day
on: February 23, 2009, 06:28:42 AM
Took my grandson to the circus today, and wanted to go lite,so got out my 30+ yr old Vic classic with air force blue scales with USAF crest on it,the only one I've ever seen, and the grandson said he was sick,so left half way throw the show, after getting home, noticed the Vic was not in my pocket, checked my easy chair, and the car,but no knife, will call up to see if the janitor might have found it,but there was an other showing after the one we went to,so got my fingers crossed. :salute:

http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/sparetime/items/VICTORINOX_CLASSIC_Air_Force_Swiss_army_knife_ is one being sold; I'm sorry for your loss, and I know it won't have the same sentimental value, but they do still sell them.  I saw that eBay also has several, too. *nods* :)

The US Air Force and US Army classics are rather common on eBay and other internet sites as used knives. The hardest ones to find are USMC, US Navy and the US Coast Guard. You should be able to replace that knife for around $5 for a used one. Might be the hardest part is the sentimental attachment to your particular knife.

I think the commissaries are sold out just about everywhere so buying new is pretty hard to do now.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement, but I think its gone for good, rechecked all my chairs, car seat, went back to the parking lot where we parked, checked with security at the arena, and even went back to the seat were I was seating, maybe it did join the circus,or ran away with a carny,I just hope it has a good home now. :salute:

His MOS was something meteorology,he spent a lot of time around SAC bases. His last posting was Blytheville AFB,in his career he was in a lot of places where the USAF no longer has a presence, like France, and Wheelus,in Libya.

He must be as old or older than me,I was in SAC from 78-93,and was stationed in Germany when they close the bases in France in 1964,we loose to shoot touch and go's in France before they closed down, and Meteorology is a good career field to be in,did he stay in weather when he retired? :salute:

I'm positive that he's older than you,as I'm 52(cripes ...did I really type 52? I'm almost middle aged!) When he came out he went to work for one of the chemical plants here doing instrument calibration.
I think between the two of us,we could baffle a lot folks here naming bases that no longer exist but were major installations in their day.
