Psyjohn - great mod. So curious why VICTORINOX has not introduced the CADET X, since the PIONEER X and FARMER X had been made.  A Trio of ALOX scissor models make more sense to me over the COMPANION SERIES introduced last year or the that other style with redesigned scales ???

Victorinox have said they can no longer make 84mm scissors because the machines broke / wore out.

Of course that is a way of dressing up a business decision. They could have replaced the machines, so must have decided it was not a good investment to do so. In general, they seem to be gradually eliminating 84mm knives. I certainly hope that does not extend to the Cadet.

Find that excuse is weak.

They make many more scissors in 58mm and 91mm or 93mm than ever in 84mm.

Plus I thought they yet making 85 scissors for DELMONT Evolution line or have that plant in DELMONT to utilize.

Weak, very weak :dunno:

Day 8

Outdoors for a walk! Cooler than yesterday yet dry and sunny.

Good bright day to catch the vibrant blue color of my CADET and also my first ALOX SAK, a FARMER.

Found the matching CADET (DLT exclusive) nlast year, the FARMER bought sometime around 2017.   Amazing the colors are yet identical.   My REDs vary year to year. Even a couple orange ALOX models.

Afternoon everyone.

How's everyone feeling today, after the government took an entire hour from you this morning?

Oh well, while I contemplate that, and other things, I figured I'd demonstrate why I chose the Cadet to ride along with my cheater specs, in my phone case.

Ok!   Now I am confused!

I just thought they were taking back the extra hour they gave us last NOVEMBER!!!  Even Steven trade off.

I just know that at my advance age, it takes my internal clock about 30 to 60 days to adjust.
Now wake at 7 instead of 6, eat dinner at 6:30 then rush to activities at 7.   Not hungry at this new 6 :dunno:

Crazy stuff.  The critters are not phased, accept those now trying cross the street when traffic is busier.

@LC - That's a very striking blue especially in the sunlight.

@PC - I thought I woke up at my normal time when I saw the alarm clock.  Then I took a gander at my phone and realized it was behind by an hour.      I'd rather quit flipping hours back and forth.

Day 8

Day 9

Morning folks!

Adjusting to the EDST adjustment that occurred Sunday morning, this should just be mind over matter.

But my internal clock says other wise, COFFEE, Coffee, coffee…  :dunno:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

My new BLACK Cadet has been acclimated with a lovely orange zipper pull to be easily located.

We will be paired up for any cutting task laying before us  :woohoo:

Woke up this morning, took the trash out to the bin and moved it out to the street.  Checked the mailbox and found me a package.  The with had one there and 4 more in the parcel box.

Bit I got one.

Day 9

The can opener came to the rescue today. First off we have teenagers. I found a plate with firmly stuck egg and eggshell on it, and I just happened to have a perfect little scraping tool in my pocket. I didn't think to take a picture in the moment, but here's the tool of the hour that got the job done.

Day 9 bonus

Incoming package that was not expected until Thursday arrived.

eBay search never found this listing. A Google search located and price was just a margin above VIC’s MSRP of $20. 😊

Day 10

Notice some residue on my CADET’s blade.  Certainly from cutting tape on packages, and notice some drag when opening a plastic envelope last night.

So I tested the blade, a ragged cut, but still cut without much effort, just noisy. 😏

So I reviewed instructions one more time and went at it.
Only four draws on each side of the blade, and three passé across the angled ceramic tip.
A few passes on my strop.

Tested the cut, smooth as silk, nary a sound, the rntire edge cut a 10” path with barely any pressure,  :ahhh

Some glue present, so I applied some spirits and wiped the blade with my finger and thought I got near the edge so moved to a towel to complete the wipe down.

Well, here are the components, of the tests. And, a finger tip with a small filet skin patch lifted, but so thin no blood🤪

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The sharpening pen is a winner, a well spent $20 for a field sharpener for my VICTORINOX blades.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Just walked outside this afternoon without my phone case, which houses my cadet.  While it stays inside, in the cool, I had to find an old pic to share today.

Almost 80°F (27°C) today, so my wife wanted to have a drink out on the deck. Popped the cap on a good German brew.
