bladeless "knife", 5 layers
on: January 29, 2026, 06:15:54 PM
My version of bladeless »knife«. Vintage look. Home made brass liners, ebony scales with nickel silver bolsters, home made bail. 5 layers. Corkscrew in metal file layer. Part of corkscrew that goes between liners was thinned  ti fit. If needed, reamer will be transformed into not sharp marlin spike.
Tools:
- metal file with nailcleaner and matal saw,
-  corkscrew
- magnifying lens
-  phillips screwdriver
-  scissors
-  hook
-  pliers
-- bottle opener with large flat screwdriver
-  can opener eith small screwdriver
-  reamer
-  microscrewdriver (not in picture)

Brilliant work, and a great thing to have for when you can’t or don’t want to have a blade, or as a complement to a separate knife.

You can use the corkscrew as a marlin spike for small knots like boot laces. So if it was me I would keep the reamer sharp, as I find it useful that way. But it depends on what kind of knots you have to deal with, and how much use you would get from the reamer, of course.

Wow very nice work!  I like it!

How did you join the bolsters to the brass liners, brazing?
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.
