The SAK WIKI reads - the Weekender is a 91mn version of the Picnicer?
Maybe a 91 Spartan, but Picnicer does not have a serrated blade like Weekender.
Don't blame me, you guys taught me this stuff

There is a Picknicker with a serrated blade (also from the SAKWiki ;) ):

Got a 111 mm Picknicer, nice.
Good thing I don't need a wire stripper!
The liner lock obscures the wire holder notch on the SD blade??

Yes when they converted the slidelocks to liner locks - They took away the serrated blade on the Picknicker  :(

Okay, so I'm going to do a mini-review here of the Work Champ XL (and then perhaps a larger one in the reviews section). So, Victorinox allegedly marketed this towards collectors (like the SC XXLT/XAVT/XXL), however, with the removal of one layer it could be an extremely useful and practical tool... So, I don't know if many people would agree with me, but the removal of the combo tool/hoof pick/second (identical[!]) awl layer would result in a far more useful and far less gimmicky item. Let me explain what I mean. The XL already has the openers layer and consequently does not require the combo tool. It is completely useless, as both of the tools it's meant to replace already exist in the same model. Now, I actually really like the hoof pick, and if there were some way to salvage that tool without also including the second, identical awl and the combo tool, I'd jump on it... But unfortunately, I can't quite envision a scenario where that's possible, and the inclusion of the combo tool on a model that already has an openers layer honestly makes this a gimmicky model that says 'hey look at how many tools we can cram into this thing, isn't this cool?' instead of 'this is a practical tool made for a purpose (whatever that ridiculous purpose may be)'. Now, there's one other optional layer removal that I think would also benefit this model, and that's one of the two serrated blades. This model possesses both the large gutting blade and the seatbelt-cutter, however, the former can be used for the purpose of the latter and indeed has done so in models like the 111mm Fireman. So, either replacing the seatbelt-cutter with a clip point blade, or simply removing the seatbelt-cutter outright would also, in my opinion, result in a far more practical and purpose-built tool... So, in summation I think that removing the hoof pick/combo tool/second, identical awl layer is a must (even though I mourn the loss of the hoof pick), and that the possible removal of the seatbelt-cutter/replacement of seatbelt-cutter with the clip point blade would result in a far more practical, entirely less gimmicky, purpose-built tool. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk. Here are some photos.

Hi Tuisto,

You really could/should have started a new thread for this discussion - As this is Chako's 111/108 collection thread
But not a problem - We don't enforce any of these kind of rules here and love digression

Anyway interesting thoughts
But I think you hit the nail on the head here:

......

honestly makes this a gimmicky model that says 'hey look at how many tools we can cram into this thing, isn't this cool?'
......

I don think the XL was ever intended to be a practical tool - And the above is exactly what Vic intend for the WC XL

Whereas the WorkChamp at least IMHO - Is a pretty fantastic model
Although my suggestion was always to awlso make the WorkChamp thinner by removing the pliers (super tweezers), which are not great in a chunky tool like this - eg I'd rather have a full pliers based, and have a 111mm 'Ranger', which would be an awesome model.

However I guess your suggestion is to remove a layer or two to make the WC XL more useable
I think for me it would still be too big  :pok:

Just MHO

Oh crap, I'm so sorry! I thought this was a thread about 108s and 111s in general but now see that it's Chako's collection. Can you delete the post and I'll start a new thread? Sorry, Chako!

@Tuisto

We typically do not to delete posts from the forum - And at MTo it really is OK to make new-ish topic posts in any thread, as mentioned above.

But please feel free to start a new thread with your WorkChamp XL musings - If it is a fairly direct copy of the above text - you could just mention/link to this thread (or not!!).

PS. On a separate topic: No need to put a full quote in your replies, especially if the reply directly follows the post to which you are replying - Usually an @, or nothing, will suffice!!   ;)
