As an MTO Legend, you definitely need 3.   :tu:
If he has two, he is only a full fledged MTo member.

MUST have THREE to considered for LEGEND STATUS. FOUR would make him a shoe in.

IMO it's their best tool in the best color.  I would buy another if I didn't already have 2.

Now, with that statement, you sparked my interest, and my attention is spiraling toward the edge.

The BEST tool, the BEST color

The Obsidian ARC isn't exactly flying off the shelves. Still available but at $275 still too steep for me  :dunno:

What caught my eye that I never noticed before, the tools are awl accessed from outside.

But, I do think I luv my REBARs and ST300 more.

Resistance is easier the longer I wait.

Wanted a TTi, found one, I feel fine now!

I think so, but the price was in Canadian dollars.

I have arrangements with a few members in the US that will receive and ship things to me.

It's a great forum- I'm sure arrangements can be made for you too if necessary.

I tend to agree.

But the Mr. Crunch is worth it to me.  Beyond that they can sit on it and twirl.  The direction Leatherman is going in doesn't make me want to continue supporting them.

I'm glad they have a whole pile of groupies keeping them going, but I just can't see me continuing to support them as I have in the past.

I 110% agree. I am having a hard time supporting them right now. I just received a Wave Alpha and posted my thoughts on it in this Leatherman subforum.

I paid way too much for my copy because Leatherman did not want Canadians to have them. I wanted it for the historical context. Non of the other Garage offerings interested me. With that said, I hope you score one.  :tu:

Paid $275 for the Garage #5. Once was enough, and I use it.

Unless it was an outstanding color or had special scales that appealed to me I would not even bother. For me, getting older, dark colored objects are much harder to see/locate. Heck, I've got (or had) two Spirits I have not seen in over a year.

Obsidian looks cool, but it would be more of a shelf queen as that finish would get chipped and scratched  in no time. Almost bought an Arc a few times, they just are not appealing. If that Obsidian had a more purplish hue and some sort of contrasting underlayer then maybe ...

Have not seen anything new past the Garage #5 to be appealing.

That newer Crunch, to me, yuck.

Batch #3 Parts lottery is opening tomorrow.  I’m very tempted to enter that one too because it was one of my favorite Garage releases. I just worry I’ll win all 3 lotteries if I do.  💸

because Leatherman did not want Canadians to have them.

Its not for lack of wanting.  Leatherman wants your money as much as you want their toys.  Of course they do.  That's why they exist.  But there are many factors at play, including Canadian taxation, shipping costs, and administrative and other issues related to warranty repairs and returns, that make the cost not worth the benefit.  At least in their view.  This is not to place blame north or south of the border.  Its just a recognition of reality.

I do genuinely understand the frustration, especially for someone like you who is immersed in the Leatherman culture and who has invested so much in it.  Many of us have our own level of frustration with Leatherman, but for different reasons.  But far worse than being frustrated would be not caring at all, and we still care because we continue to want more and better toys from Leatherman going forward.

Anyone ever wonder how a Canadian got such a big collection of Leathermans in the first place? Prior to 2014/15, I could order anything I wanted from US retailers. Then all of a sudden, I was told they could no longer sell to me because they could lose their dealership with Leatherman. Then came a few years when I could not buy anything from them. I missed out on a few great collector editions because of this. I quickly found out that it would cost way to much to have someone in the US cover for me rather than buy direct from the company or through retail options that no longer existed.

Then Leatherman opened up their Canadian website wiling to sell to Canadians. Unfortunately, all they sell tend to be basic models. All the collector stuff was not accessible to me. At the same time, Leatherman removed all of their dealers in Canada for the most part, making their web site one of the only places allowed to sell in Canada. Because of this when the Garage series came out, I wanted the first due to its historical significance. Garage #1 cost me around a thousand bucks to obtain because the prices increase with every middleman involved. No surpriser that this lotto stuff is something I cannot participate in. Over the years I am becoming rather ambivalent about Leatherman and their business practices. I still enjoy my collection, but adding new stuff to it has slowed down. Besides, some of the new higher quality Chinese stuff compares very favourably with Leatherman these days. You can buy those for 50 dollars all day long, which is sad because you can buy 5 to 6 for the price of 1 Leatherman. That thought alone negates the 25 year warranty concept when you think about it.

Just my thoughts. I do not want to dampen anyone's fun.

Today’s additions are interesting.

If anyone in the US wasn’t planning on trying to get a grey Garage 005, could they enter on my behalf and I’ll pay handsomely if they get one?

Quick question: is the metal file on the batch #005: 40th Anniversary Tool White Edition shorter than on the ARC, or is it the same size but a different shape?

I would think it is the same.

Isn’t it the same file on the Wave, the Charge, etc???

I thought it appears the recycling of implements into new handles with different pliers.

The shape is different between Batch #005: 40th Anniversary and ARC.

Which one has a longer metal file?

Did they email you yet? I haven’t heard anything. I entered the lottery for both versions of the #5. I’m refreshing my email like a crazy person. If I go by my orders page, it looks like I won both, but I’m doubtful, as my points have not gone up, and still no email notification.
