   I finally got around to looking at the July calendar.  July 4 falls on the first Saturday this year.  Independence Day +250 years.  I'm sure the neighborhood noise makers are stocking up on pyrotechnics.  I have a feeling of something bad happening on that day. 
   My new phone is supposed to arrive Friday.  The one I have been using refused to boot up last week.  I finally got it going, but it is already being held together with tape and super glue.  I have had it for exactly three years.  This will be my fourth phone in 10 years.  The manufacturers keep packing features on each generation of phones that I don't need.  Or use. 
   Same thing with watches.  I don't need blue tooth on a watch.  I don't particularly need alarms or timers.  I have yet to use either one although my CASIO watches always do all that stuff.  I need day, date, a light, accurate time, and a band that is halfway comfortable.  Same deal with a smart phone.  I like being able to access the internet for phone numbers, etc.  I send some texts and call now and then.  That's about it.  We will see what the new one does that I don't need.

I hate that cell phone companies force us to update our phones.  Last one I had for 3 years and it was working great until Verizon sent us an email saying they would not longer support it.  There was nothing wrong with it and it did everything I asked of it.  My current phone I've had for 3 years already as well and it's still in great shape.  I'm hoping they don't send that stupid email again.
