I remember someone posting a video here of a guy on YouTube who found a dozen or two dozen uses for the hook.
I say again, FOUND uses for the hook.  I seem to recall picking it apart, use by use and showing other SAK tools that could do the job, or where the hook use was so contrives as to be near rediculous.
It's fun being the grinch sometimes.

So Mr. Grinch,
It seems like we have a challenge:   :woohoo: :woohoo:

When I make that post about the hook use cases - You have to tell me another tool that could have done the job for each use case!   :salute:
The loser donates $10 to the MTo coffers

The judges will be the members .... and must show complete impartiality and objectiveness   ;)
If there is some sort of a tie/lack of conclusion it will be down to a poll majority!!

Do you accept?   ???    :pok:

PS. I seem to remember that video - And remember some of the 'use-cases' were a bit contrived!    :o

That does sound kind of fun...IF...if ANY use case is too contrived that even a handy every day item could be used.  In the video, I seem to remember that guy using the hook to pull a cookie tray out of the oven, even as a towel was hanging off the handle, for example, I'd use the towel.

So I guess we have to define, are we stranded, or just every day use.  If the highlighted use is as above, can we not incorporate the obvious choice, excluding things that are actual tools like ratchets, plyers, screwdrivers, and such?  Yet clearly I can't always say "well I'd go to my workshop and get my Craftsman flat screwdriver", that's a "dedicated tool and is out of the question.

Not sure if I'm making the sense I hear in my head?
