Rare Ribbed Alox Vic.
on: February 26, 2009, 02:05:49 AM
Ebay Item number: 190288267018

Looks in very nice condition, not only is it ribbed but it has the reverse crinked bottle opener, definitely a rarity

But at $26.50 postage to the UK I'll be giving this one a miss :(

Normal disclaimer.

Neil

That seems a bit high on the postage. I recently sent a padlock to the UK and it cost me under $6.

Well prices have been getting pretty crazy for the rare vintage SAKs recently so its hard to tell.     In that condition probably more than I can afford anyway  :-\

Agreed, even assuming the seller has factored in that its likely to sell high and quoted appropriate insured shipping that's high.

I have been watching that auction. I do not plan on bidding though. The current high bidder is a fellow SAK collector from Knife Forums. I am guessing it will go around $85 or so but not really sure. Especially after seeing this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&item=120380968060 auction and wondering where it will end up at! I am flabbergasted at how high this auction went so far and it still has yet to finish!

I bet it's going that high because of the 84mm scissors!   :D :D

Actually, my perception is that auction prices in general have been higher over the last couple of months. Strange considering that consumer spending is supposed to be down...

I agree somewhat. IF you think about it though with the economy here in North America taking a dive downwards most things folks put money in is losing ground everywhere. Even my wife's conservative 401k is losing ground. This makes folks look to things like "Assets" or physical things that can grow in value. Things like Gold and precious gems, sure but the collectibles market has really taken off. Collections tend to have a higher value as a whole rather than separately. As long as it is a quality collection.

Well it went for $67.  This time last year I'd have said that was reasonable but not now; someone got a good deal on that.

For all you know though the winner could of had a bid of $100.  I'm sure that won't make you feel any better though  :-\

That's absolutely beautiful.  Someday, if I ever get a showcase together (Ha!  ::))  I'd love to collect beautiful items like that.

Truly works of industrial art.
