Its the Meta-Data. For example if you rotate an image in the Windows Previewer, it gets saved that way, but only in the Meta-Data, so depending on whether they are taken into account its either rotated or not. Only if you save it with a graphics program the new orientation will be saved.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

My dad took a picture of me on memorial day last year. This is at the war cemetery in Margraten, The Netherlands. We've adopted a grave and a name on The wall of the missing.
