If you think it would discourage you from using it, don't get the extras. If you already have a good ratchet, why buy another?

Sorry, I don't know what came over me just then. Get all the extras and an extra Spirit too. Forgot which forum I was on.

I think you just hit the nail on the head. It's only on this forum, in this particular universe, where such questions attain importance :)
Basically, I'd like the Vic Ratchet, associated bits, corkscrew etc, even though I already have a perfectly nice micro-ratchet, simply because I enjoy completing "the set". It's by no means essential, but it might result in a tiny bit more pleasure, just to have.
Maybe my solution is to get the large sheath, all the extras, and also a small sheath. Yeah, the more I think about it the better that sounds  ;) ;)

The perfect MTO answer. Get it all and an extra sheath too.  :salute:

I love my sprit x, i got it for fathers day.......But i hate the Velcro closure on the sheath. With such a quality tool, I was expecting a quality sheath. Does anyone know if any of the the Zermatt sheaths fit the spirit?

Hooraay! I'm in!

After waiting for about five months, finally I can take the Spirit home. I'm surprised! This multitool is super smooth and the most important thing is I'm sure my palm won't be pinched again. Tomorrow I'm gonna EDC this one.

I'm glad.....so glad!

Does anyone in this club have the Swiss shield not etched on their plier head? I've seen a couple pics on here without them, was just curious.

Thanks. Not a big deal not having them; just wanted to make sure I wasn't alone; strength in numbers and all that, lol!

Love that sheath! Very nice.
Almost enough to actually get one and use it! :-) But alas, I love clip carry... I'll be trying to mod that soon.

Thanks, I actually prefer clip carry myself funny enough. I just loved it, and had a specific use for it, and I can't clip carry the Vic.

Hello, very happy I received my Spirit, and can join the club!
I'd like to ask for some advice: the jaws of the pliers are slightly misaligned (see picture). Also: the pliers don't automatically open with gravity, they are a bit stiff, not much, but still, I'd like them to open when I loosen my grip.
Is this common among your Spirits? I'm thinking about returning it.
Joost.

The stiffness I would say is normal and will vanish after some use. The misalignment however I think is not normal and I suggest you have it replaced (I have several Spirits and none of them has this).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

^ Agree.

Welcome to MTo! Sorry you seem to have gotten an abused Spirit.

If you don't mind me asking, did you get that new or used?  Never seen one with the tips misaligned like that!  Definitely worth returning IMO... espcially if new.

(If it's used, and I'm visualizing things right, maybe it was used too hard to loosen something?  And if so, then I guess the pivot design did its job and strengthened the head as it was being torqued.  But I digress.)
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Thanks for your replies, I bought it new, online. Definitely gonna ask for a replacement.

Depending on situations, it could be a lightly-used, returned Spirit which some retard used the plier tips to pry or twist something he shouldn't have.

It could even be a not-so-new one; we know how long Spirits stay new-looking and -feeling.

If you haven't already bring it right back. The longer you have it, the higher the chance they will accuse YOU of doing it, and refuse to help. (in which case, you could still ask Victorinox for their help, even though it likely didn't leave the factory that way)

Checking in guys... Have had it for a few weeks... Time to post the pics up. I love it, I just have two minor points:
1. The Victorinox logo is missing from the plier head. I asked around here and found someone else who is missing it as well... so I guess there's strength in numbers ... Albeit a small number haha.
2. The handle alignment when the tool is closed is slightly off so the tool doesn't lay completely flat ... I've also read an extended thread in here concerning that and I'm not really that concerned.
Beyond those two, a beautifully crafted tool and everything I expected it to be.

We were out of town on vacation for the last week. I gave the mailbox key to my neighbor and asked him to get our mail for us while we were out. He was happy to do it, but had to leave for a death in the family Thursday. (father in law died of cancer :( )

We got back Friday evening, so now there's 3 days' of mail (including my engraved Spirit X) in my neighbor's apartment and 3 days' in my mailbox. Hopefully the Post Office didn't hold my mail yet...

They're supposed to be back in town tonight.

Correct. It is a Nite-Ize clip. Not as classy as some of the clip mods I've seen done on other Spirit Xs on here but it gets the job done :-)

Spirit X landed yesterday. It's aweseome. It inspiried me to stay up until 3 AM and write a big comparison between it and 3 other compact MTs. I went to post it, but I exceeded the 20k character limit. Damn!  >:(
