Very nice photo!

The Spirit is a remarkable tool.  Although I ended up with the Spirit X because I wanted a traditional main blade, I wondered how the blade shown in your photo would be like.

Spreads butter really well. And then cuts you because you've insinuated that it's a butter blade

Nice photo R.

I think I would prefer the X blade now, even though the butter blade seems more versatile. I went to pop a bunch of inflatable packing the other day, and it would have been nice to simply deploy the main blade, but I had to resort to the awl, the butter blade was not up to it. Oh well, that's what the Climber is for I reckon...  :)

You need an S! :D   (but you lose the scissors :( )

I'll be getting an X soon too for it's ease of normal field sharpening (plus the scissors). I am more accepting of the serrated Spirits since Gene turned me on to the Work Sharp field sharpener....it's magic on those serrated blades.

And I'll throw this back up for grins!!!!  :D

I did have a black S model, but I got rid of it due to the need for scissors.  :(  Mrynnr seems happy with it!  :)

I like the butter blade fine, and I am able to keep it maintained easily, but for a stand-alone and other reasons, I think the X would be preferable. Trouble is the only X I have is the RT, and I hesitate to ruin it's natural beauty!

On the other hand my old '04 user is perfect for the tool bag, since I usually carry a pokey blade (or 2) SAK anyway, so, options...  :tu:

Nice photos SG, and looking forward to your new X when you get it.

Would be interesting if this were a detail that we could use to date the newer versions!  :tu:

It does look like the same stamp with different strike forces, so maybe just a mfg. variance?  ???
Yes, I guess you're right. The stamp on the second and third Spirit seems to be the same. The top one seems to have different font though.

My guess is that the top one is the oldest of the bunch. I think I've seen that kind of font on the older Spirits. I'm not sure.

It would be difficult as a building manager to do my job without a multitool.  The Spirit is my tool of choice. It allows me to have everything I need on me so I can fix things as I see them. The Phillips screw driver takes the worst abuse as you can see in the pic.  For me it is the biggest weakness. I have 3 spirits.  Had several warranty repairs for the Phillips breaking like this.

Abusing the Spirit I broke the blade's tip off, and it needed to be cleansed and de-gunked so I just took the pause to take the pic.
