Up in Denmark for Xmas I was a little unsure of their knife laws, which, in the past, meant you could get hanged for carrying anything larger than a Classic. Or something. They realised this was bananas about a year ago; I have no idea what the new law says but I took a Spyderco and a Spirit anyway. That Stretch is turning into my favourite Spyderco. Basically a folding kitchen knife. Ace! Also kind of incredible how much wood you can chop without blunting it.
Of course the Spyderco doesn't have a pliers, bottle opener, saw, tin opener, metal file, useless hook thing, etc, which is where the Spirit comes in.
(And the Spirit doesn't have a corkscrew which turned out to be a bummer...)

Good combo Pants!  :like:

I like my Spydie in the kitchen too, gifted my Pacific Salt away and replaced it with a flat ground Endura 4. Good slicers!  :tu:

Funny you should mention the Endura... I'm trying to see if it's possible to get one in Racing Green for less than a billion dollars!

Green you say?  :D

Pardon the mess, been using it already this morning. It was $75 US IIRC.

I thought it was steep for a single blade folder, compared to a Sentinel or something, but they sure are worth it.  :tu:

they are the best in their respective categories, and make a complete EDC if paired   :salute:

I keep the Spydie in a drawer with the PX, I rarely (almost never in fact) have use for a that large of a blade away from the kitchen, but I have carried the PX recently. I use the PX for food prep too, it shares time with the Endura, along with opening packages and cans, etc. A good kitchen combo for me!  :) The Spirit X has been a good stand alone carry for the past 16 days, I can't seem to carry anything else just yet. Maybe when the new wears off...

The PX is pretty unbeatable in its own right. I wish I could bring myself to wield a Damascus X in real life situations but I am too cowardly in that regard! I prefer to use a regular one for 1/10th the price.
Why would anyone want to pair a Spirit with either a Pioneer or a Spyderco? Obviously because its blade leaves a lot to be desired. 1) it's really tiny. 2) It gets blunt in no time.
Now if someone could stick a Spyderco blade into a Spirit... I know it ain't happening, but that would be a grail for sure. Or a Damascus VG10 blade for Twiliter...

If I needed a blade a lot more often, or one bigger than a 91/93 I would definitely consider a Spydie. A damascus would be cool! Cost prohibitive though, a damascus Endura is about much as a damascus PX (before they sold out), which was $185. One of the reasons I prefer a SAK or MT to a traditional folder, is there's not so much focus on the blade which is just another tool choice to me. Also there is a lot of focus on outdoor scenarios with big folders and fixed blades, but I'm not likely to go camping without my Silky saw and a good hatchet or even an axe, and a machete for trailblazing in underbrush. With so many good dedicated choices it's silly and really Hollywood to go out with only a big knife and set the world on fire (so to speak). MT's will always be a good compromise between a lot of tools in a handy and compact kit. I know it's not as much fun, but I try to be realistic about it. A saw on a SAK or MT is great fun, but doing any kind of real chores with it gets really ridiculous really quickly.  :ahhh  :D

Also, in the kitchen it's fun to use a Spydie or a SAK, most of my needs are met as I don't have to carve animal carcasses or anything, so I don't require a butcher knife or large professional carving knife. I like to have only what is useful and efficient there, it's a small place.  :)
