Wait, that’s not a Leatherman it’s better!

Everything needed for the new house inspection. Not that I actually needed more than the pen and notebook.

Since then we’re nearly all signed and sealed.  Already planning the radon mitigation installation, new vent duct for bathroom fan, building a new dishwasher cabinet, among other things. I think the Spirit can do all that just fine.

:iagree: GB.  Better to be prepared!

Indeed. We did view one house with a detached garage that was secured with a pin. We couldn’t pull it out with just fingers and there was no way we’d reattach it. I brought my Spirit and the pliers fit just fine to secure the door.

My regular use spirit. I like that it has the little Vic logo  on the plier head. Wish they kept that. I also missed the stock sheath by adding a snap.

:like:...very nice. I agree the logo on the plier head is nice. I don't like the hook and loop style closures either - then again, I don't generally carry on a sheath anyway.

Hi FrenchEOD, yes that’s right mate. It’s called the Broad Arrow and stamped on British and Australian defence force knives and other ordinance

The two in my pic were both Australian Defence Forces issued, I’ve some WW2 British knives with the stamp too

Wikipedia has some info if you’re interested

Had to change the protective lens guards on the Insta360 X3 camera again. The plastic guitar-looking pick just does not cut the mustard in removing the guards, and the awl is a bit too rough. Found that using the can open on the Spirit was just right.  :o

:like: I’ve used a Vic can opener a number of times in the same way. I did get an iFixit tool kit a number years back that has a decent set of pry tools and spudger.  Similar to this one: https://www.ifixit.com/products/essential-electronics-toolkit

Ever have a stubborn bottle cap or small jar that just won't open? Found that opening the Spirit's pliers, them grasping the container's lid/cap between the pliers, and then firmly closing down on it and twisting opens it right up! Sometimes takes a few tries on stubborn 2 liter soda bottles.

I have done the same thing on seemingly stuck lids.  Spirit pliers do work great for it.

The Spirit pliers are in my opinion just great.  I was able to remove a rusted bolt on the mower that my wrench kept slipping.  The handles really help for that extra force.

I also fixed a ceiling light and switch.  Some of the old cloth insulated wiring didn’t look great so I cut it back on both the ceiling and wall. Used the wire scraper, pliers, scissors, pry bar flat head, and Phillips.  I even used the butter blade to slightly carve back some drywall. I don’t think it even dulled the blade.

Along with an Olight I3T and Waiter got the job done.

Did some work on the house yesterday.  I realized I was using my Spirit so much I thought I might track its usage.  I used every tool to some extent at least once. Got pics of some of the work.

Pliers were the most used for old nail and screw removal taking off old trim and fixing some of the steps and railings on the back porch.  Used for leverage bending a hook and threading plaster drywall screws.  Also pulled the kids nuggets out of the toaster oven.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

As part of the porch work, I also used the Phillips and flat head as a pry.  Saw and butter blade trimmed away some random branches and bushes in the way.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Also used several tools I didn’t get pics of:

pliers pulling out some old drywall anchors, tightening a nut on the kids tractor, and bending the kids shovel blade back into place.  Probably more I can’t remember.  I used them some frequently I kept the tool in open position in the sheath more than close.

Phillips tightened screws on kids lawn tools and turned screws for final tightening in drywall anchors.

The awl helped with the hole in the wall for the anchors and started pilot holes.

Chisel shaved down some spots on the porch trim and was used to get under recessed stripped screw head to remove.

I attempted  to use the small flat head to open some zip ties, but these were some of the cheap target brand ones that just deformed at the stop. So, scissors snipped several zip tips.

The file removed some rust from the lawn mower blade and gently sharpened, but it’s time for a replacement (the whole tractor!)

I even used the can opener on a tin of olives.

Gee, if that’s not got you sold I don’t know what will

I have always used them as anchors exclusively for plaster drywall and forgot they’re called toggle anchors.  I had to look at the package to figure out what you meant I’ve just called them plaster anchors for years.   That screw is probably 2mm larger than the bolt that comes with it, but because of the thread spacing it worked in the anchor.

When I think of wall anchors, those evil plastic things that you pound in always come to mind. I have never had good luck with those. :twak:

A day of work for the Spirit again.  Spent a good several hours cleaning gutters, pruning maples growing in the garden amongst other vines.  Then put together another new furniture piece and changed some batteries.  Trimmed some furniture foot pads and some kid straws that had split.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I was glad to have the serrated blade for the gutters.  There was a veritable root system developing. It’s clear the previous owners hadnt cleaned the gutters in years. I had to use the serrated blade to cut through what my hand trowel couldn’t get through.

I got to use my new 26ft Werner ladder in both step ladder and full extension. Very glad I invested in one of those.
