Hi all,
My first post.  I've been reading this Spirit Owners Club forum off and on throughout the day at work ;)  Once I got home I decided to register so that I can join the club.  Reading about how some of you mod your multis inspired me to try some of my own.  It only consists of using the diamond file of my Charge AL to file down the small flathead on the Spirit to make it a mini eyeglass screwdriver.  I also did the same on the smallest flathead of my Juice S2, as well as the small one on my Rebar.  I guess you could say I got a little carried away, but now I have a mini screwdriver on all of those tools that didn't originally have one.  I also didn't find much use at all for any of those small flatheads, so I figured I may as well try it.  Unfortunately my home PC is old and uploading pics is a time consuming task.

The Spirit is an excellent piece of equipment.  I had started off with a few Leathermans and became hooked on the multitool phenomenon.  This past August I decided to treat myself on my bday to a Spirit.  Originally I didn't find them appealing when viewing them online, but they had such positive reviews that I decided to try one out.  As many have said, you don't really understand how solid and just how high quality it feels until you have it in your hands.  I'm still partial to my Charge and Rebar, but the Spirit is right up there with them.  All three are unique and fun to use/play with.  Of course I also like to pair them with a SAK, preferably my Compact, which compliments any of them very nicely.  I hope to someday be able to have enough time to upload some pics of my Spirit with it's new mini screwdriver :)

I've also wanted the Spirit S, but I can't seem to find it anywhere as it seems to no longer be available or in production.  Is this true?

Welcome to the club Monrogue, and welcome to MTO.

Ps.. Yes right now the Spirit-S is out of the catalogs and not easy to find.  Sometimes Vic revives models, but right now it's basically out-of-production.

Thanks for the welcome, man, and the info, even if it is bad news for me.  Oh well, I guess that's what I get for waiting so long to check out the Spirit.  If I'm lucky, perhaps they will revive the Spirit S.  If not, I have plenty of multitools to keep me happy, although there seems to be a never ending desire for getting new ones.  However, it's an expensive addiction, and one that's difficult to keep feeding financially  :(

Very true.  There are many ways of getting new ones though, as long as you don't care about having a ton of them at once.  Ebay can be your best friend, EDCsource is a great resource for SAK's, as Felinevet is set up there, and we have a lovely B/S/T forum here, and I can say from personal experience that it sometimes yields some of the best deals out there.

Thanks for the info on the B/S/T that goes on here.  I will keep that in mind in the future.  Anyone got a Spirit S in good condition (I know, what other condition would it be in?:D) they want to get rid of?

I gave my Dad a spirit X a while back, he loves it.  It replaced both his Pulse and Rebar(both gifts from me).

Here is a pic.  I tried uploading more, but I kept being told the file size was too large, even with only one pic attached.   ???

Welp, I'm officially back in the club after a former co-worker lost my Spirit S a year or so ago. Just got my shiny new Spirit X  :D . In usual Vic fashion, the thing is flawless. The file is a bit tight, but should loosen up with use, same for the pliers. One thing I noticed right away is the lockup is better than my old "S". On the "S" it was 99% perfect, with just the oh so slightest bit of up/down play here and there. Not this thing, it's probably the tightest, most solid, dead on perfect lockup I have ever seen.

I also got the bit wrench bit kit and nylon plus sheath. I filled the bit holder with a bunch of security Torx and Allen drivers I had laying around. Really just because they were laying around unused and still look perfect lol. Besides, now on the off chance I encounter a security Torx or Allen screw I'm good to go!

Neat trick I discovered: the corkscrew eyeglass driver fits in the bit carrier and the wrench perfectly, so I tossed that in there too. I also tossed my Widgy bar and the a SAK toothpick/tweezers in the case as well since I didn't bother with the corkscrew and had extra space.

Should make for a great new EDC, I'll take pics of it all after I get the flashlight I ordered to go along with it (hopefully tomorrow) So, so, so excited to finally have another Spirit  :climber:

Well. . . I have finally joined the Spirit Owners Club.

After purchasing my first Original  SwissTool in 1998 and having owned 5 different versions, I finally gave in when the Amazon Spirit S special was posted a few days ago.  I missed out on the $43.00 price, but did get it for $53.00.

The tool arrived today and at first look, I am pleased.  I had held  off due to price.  I couldn't understand why the smaller tool in the SwissTool series would sell for so much more than I had paid for any of my full size SwissTools.  Now that I have one at a reasonable price, I'm willing to give it a go for days off and special occasions.

The only think I don't really like is the sheath color.  It's brown leather, but I would prefer black since I use black leather goods more than I do brown.  That should be easy enough to remedy.

Now, if Amazon or someone would  just have a super price deal  on a BO version. . .

I'd say it depends on how much money you want to spend as they are functionally the same.  I really want the RT Edition though :gimme:  I have the regular Spirit with the "butterblade".

I finally got around to purchasing a Spirit X last week, after years of using the original Spirit with the butter blade.

I will say that I'm a tad bummed out about the size of the new blade on the Spirit X. It actually looks like it started off as a butter blade, and Victorinox just ground it down to it's new shape. There's a lot less steel than there is on a butter blade, and certainly much less than there could be.

On the positive side, it looks like Victorinox was not happy with near-perfection in the fit and finish department, and took it to a new level. My older Spirit is no slouch, but the new one is closer to perfection than I would have imagined.

I will admit that I kind of liked the old logo better on the outside of the tool, and miss the logo on the pliers, but not enough to give it a third thought.

Now to find the perfect pocket clip for the Spirit........

My HipClip arrived. For me, it's just too large to use on the Spirit. I'd grind it down and make it right size, but the adhesive strip is pre-applied, and it doesn't come with any extra strips. I may have to order a small roll of 3m tape.

The Clip Draw looks nice to me, not cheap, but it comes at least with extra strips. :D
