halfway there on my craftsman tool.
on: February 09, 2009, 01:16:54 AM
I have been on the look out for a craftsman multitool for years now. it is the model with the interchangable tiny bits. well I finall got one. it has the adapter but no bits. where to find bits that small? I have found doubled ended bits in all sizes but nothing small enough. I have been all over the web. it may take a while to find this one.

No, they are 1/4" hex, double ended, and really REALLY short. I've never seen them anywhere else Scrappy :-\

Do you have any pics of them?  I'll be down at a local tool house today where I get the hookup on many things.  I'll look through their catalogs to see if I can find anything.

thank you very much. that is very kind of you. unfortunatly I have never found the bits that fit so I couldn't give you a pic.  :(
I just keep buying and trying. now I just take the tool with me so I can size them up before buying.

If you got the model number, you should be able to pull it up in Sears catalog http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?psid=33766408&sid=PSx20071217x00001a

I looked through several catalogs yesterday and didn't come up with anything.  The closest thing were some double ended #2 phillips bits from Dewalt but they were a bit stubby on the bit end so I'm not sure if they would even work.  If you stumble upon some pictures be sure and post them so I know for sure what I'm looking for.

Was this the one made by Schrade?  If so, searching old Schrade info might help?

thanks for the thought def. I think the adjustable plier is about the best tool out there, not just be cause it is adjustable but because it can also work in tighter spots with out the needle nose getting in the way.

(And as of today, there are even pictures of the little screwdriver bits) :pok:

thanks bob. when I cut the pocket clips the leathernab model pliers twisted away from each other as did the swiss and sog but leatherman was the worse. the one tool that survived with out a scratch is this schrade. I think it may be the toughest tool around.

no, I didn't get a new one. I decided to get a power plier and the sabertooth tools. I am going to add the plier from the sabertooth to another multi. this plier looks very promising.
