Post Apocalyptic Multi-tool
on: March 22, 2009, 08:32:25 PM
My wife and I recently rented City of Ember, about people living in an underground city after the end of the world for about two hundred years.  In the movie, the city is dying and it's up to a couple of kids to find a way for everyone out of the city to above ground where it is now safe to live.  One of the kids' father played by Tim Robbins gives him this multi-tool to help his son in his new job.  Check it out.

Seems like I saw that actual prop multitool used in the movie for sale recently?  I can't recall where it was though.

Interesting looking contraption isn't it?    Err, is that a stack of bottle caps running down the center?

It was for sale; that's where I found the photos.

Here's the link.

And yes, those are bottle caps.

Ahhh, there we go!

Hmmmm, either $1000 to buy it outright, or $150 to rent it on a weekly basis.  Decisions, decisions.....

Wouldn't be easy to make your own. It looks like they used around a dollars worth of material.

Yah, I see a spoon in there.  A fingernail file.  A little prybar end.  And.....is that some sort of kitchen utensil on the side?
