Help.....MP4 to MP3 converter

Dudes and dudesses,

I need to convert some of my Ipod music (MP4) to another music player (MP3).

Anyone know of a way to do this without paying silly prices for software?

If you've purchased the iTunes Plus version of the songs, you can use the iTunes software and save them as MP3s.

Nick FWIW I'm using ffmpeg for most of my multimedia conversion chores. If your on a mac or using some open-source operating system, that's the way to go. If you're using ms windows i reckon there is a prebuilt binary, although I've never tried that.

IS a "prebuilt binary" a medical condition?

I'll rephrase that then. Super, along with one of ffmpeg or mencoder should do. There are more user-friendly options out there but these are the most comprehensive and high quality free ones I know off.

(disclaimer: I've only used these tools on bsd and linux, so don't blame me if they set your pc on fire and make your dog bark all night long

)

Several solutions are available for the conversion to MP3.

Are you usings a PC or a MAC?

Your answer depends on the solution, I have not found one s/w that will handle both.

The generic term to search for is " DRM converter "

I have an iMac and just converted ALL my iTunes Playlists of purchased songs this past Sunday.

I used:

If you want to convert iPod music (MP4) to another music player (MP3), you can try LINK REMOVED. It can convert MP4, AAC, etc. music formats to MP3. This is how I convert my AAC audiobooks on iTunes to MP3 for playback.

There are a bunch of ways to convert MP4 to MP3 without shelling out big bucks for software.

1. Audacity: This is a free, open-source audio editing software that can also convert files. You'll need to download and install it, but once you do, you can import your MP4 files and export them as MP3s. Just make sure to also download the LAME MP3 encoder, which is also free, to enable MP3 exporting.

2. Online Converters: Websites like Online-Convert, Zamzar, or CloudConvert let you upload your MP4 files and convert them to MP3. The downside is that you'll need a good internet connection and might have to wait a bit if their servers are busy.
