Title: Eye-stabber a.k.a. Parker Jotter review

Another Sad Retail Therapy Story

Twas a day like any other, except that a rather large amount of money, a severance payment, hit my bank account, and I needed to buy something.

My black BIC at work was privatized a while ago, just used the red one on the odd occasion I needed to write something, but that set me thinking that perhaps I should get a better pen.....

The Parker Jotter came to mind because my dad always had one, and I drive past a billboard advertising them every day.....

Then I had a thought - since I'd given up on the idea of a knife for self defense, a pen could work for quick access and stabbing out eyes during a confrontation  :duel:

I purchased a thin black refill as well, and it's been in my pocket about 2 weeks.

Ended up in the laundry basket a few times, but I realized this morning that it's gone.

I don't have a large place, many shirts or multiple laundry baskets.......pretty sure I'm back to BIC

I feel the pain, Gerhard. :ahhh

Anytime I carry a good pen/pen-based knife/tool, it seems to walk away or disappear.
Started carrying cheap Pilot G-7 Gel pens at work and have had the same one in my shirt pocket for two years.

They stole my pretty purple Jotter at work. Seriously, at a precinct!!!
Now I carry a chrome Jotter to work. I just love these pens…

Sorry about your losses peeps :-\ I mainly use pencils (mechanical) but I do carry a Fisher bullet pen in case I need something more permanent  Also I carry a black Sharpie but although permanent as well doesn't nearly write as neatly as a regular pen :ahhh :D I have lost a fair share of writing utensils over the years though

I like my Jotter, burgundy barrel with fisher med refill.  Just can not find the little sucker right now, or my camera, so no picture

I am sure it will turn up, hopefully not in the laundry via a unsearched  pocket.

Parker has always been a respected name and the Jotter around forever.

Do not right as  much as I did when working, but luv a good writing instrument.

Hope it turns up my friend :hatsoff:

Bummer.  My pens/pencils are secured in a Maxpedition 3x5 pad holder.  Not lost one yet.  I tried to pocket carry a pen but no go for me.  My manager serves as my "just in case" writing instrument.

I am sure it will show up, they usually do. I always shirt pocket carry my pen/pencil. I also carried the aluminum Sharpie for marking my filter changes. Another reason was it makes a great improvised Kubaton.

I EDC a full metal Jotter. Very sturdy, looks better worn than a "plastic" barreled one. Awlso better for tactical use.

Well, I did find my Jotter, in the wire spiral spine of my calendar book  Where I keep it

Camera however is AWOL, and daughter who borrowed ( I thought) claims no knowledge :dunno:

So as they get older, children don't get better apparently :ahhh Going through much similar with my 10 year old and was hoping it would get better over the years  I hope I am not doing the same with my parents currently

Please tell me you didn't lose it because you tested the defence aspect on your own eyes :D

I love Parker Jotters and pay attention to the lineage that can be determined by the shape and logo design of the thumb button. I have a number of them in a few different colors

Stainless, black, blue, burgundy. I keep one in my shirt pocket and day bag always. When presented with a bill or check whenever I am out, I never use the pen left with the check. I always take mine out of my pocket and use it instead. Who wants to use a pen that a hundred other people used that day?

But my favorite was a gift to me, and it had a tiny little calendar wrapped around it where the two sections meet when opening for the refill.

Carried that one for years and lost it just before Christmas. Bummer. Now I'm on my Fisher Space Pen until I get it replaced. Frankly, I don't like the idea of having to remove a cap, and the Space Pen cap doesn't stay well affixed to the back of the pen anyway.

Long live the Parker Jotter!

I wanna try my hand at one of those Parker’s, I really like the 701’s so I also thought about those zebra tacticals too, my only thing is they all have an open tip so if the ink blows up it’s going in your pocket, that and I don’t want to spend so much on a everyday carry that I can easily lose, so did some digging around and found a little something, think of it this way, a cheap imitation space pen that uses a simple bic ink cartridge..
I must say I like them, you get three for under $10, so if you lose one your not hurting the bank, that and you don’t have to hurry up and order another cause there’s 2 others floating around, somewhere..
I’ve carried mine for over a year, it’s sat in the same pocket as my mto chip, it’s smaller since it’s inclosed like a fisher, yet will open to full size, plus since it’s inclosed if it leaks it won’t do so in your pocket! Anyway here’s a few pics, what I did was take a wider bic 1.0 rather then the I think .7 ink cartridge and switched them, that and had to make it blue ink, :D

LOL, and that last post had exactly NOTHING to do with the Parker Jotter, the subject of this thread.

Besides, it's not a MTo thread if it doesn't get derailed in page 1!

:iagree: He mentions them in the VERY FIRST LINE of his post (see, I can use cap locks too  :tu:)... Besides, he's talking about alternatives.

Okay, I think I just misunderstood the fact that the topic title has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the topic. Have to remember that…
