Title: My Super Tool
Post by: GMArthur on December 31, 2007, 09:04:50 PM
First hello to all. I've been reading here for a while and finally decided to register. Rather than a long winded hello - a picture is worth a thousand words so here is a few shots of what has been on my belt every day for the last 10-11 years. I've tried every multi tool that has came out since but always stayed with my favorite.

That is my third leather LM sheath. I've also worn out a nylon LM sheath. The nylon sheath I use now is from an old Gerber I had once I think. The BO Super Tool I got as a backup a few years back. I didn't really want a black one but that was all they had. I was scared I would break or lose mine and not be able to get another. Now with eBay getting a replacement is not a problem. Oh the lanyard I made up from some old 550 but I only use it when I carry it in a nylon sheath.

Anybody else have any Super Tool images??

That tool is USED! What do you do for work? I'd imagine you use your tools HARD!

The last time it was used hard was on my Father-in-law's porch roof. I put down 4 square of shingles and used my Super Tool for every cutting job. At the end of the day it was so clogged with tar and asphalt grit from cutting shingles that the blade wouldn't close. Had to soak it in acetone for a few hours at work the next day to even get it closed :D. I first got it when I got a job putting in and fixing furnaces. A Leatherman and a Benchmade knife were standard on every tech's belt.

Welcome buddy!

It's good to see another Supertool fan.  I also have a BO one and it is definitely one of my favourite tools.  I am still planning on doing a few photo's soon so you will be able to see some then.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm not really a multi tool collector - more of a user. I love all the different brands out there and love to play with them though. I will be getting one of those skele-tools LM is making to see how that is, but the chance of it bumping the Super Tool off my belt is slim. It's been there longer than my kids have been alive, and before I was married.

Greg.

Here's a shot of my old Super Tool. It had a lot of carry time in it's day. I'm more partial to the Charge now, so it doesn't get out much anymore.

Welcome! Nice pictures!

I sold my original SuperTool some time ago and have been meaning to acquire another one to accompany the 200 model I have now, your pics may have convinced me to find one on eBay.  :multi:

Neve owned a super tool or even the 200. Seems when I finally killed my PST I got the wave. However it is nice to see  a tool that has been used a lot.  Congrats on it it looks like it has served you well!!!

Looking at the nice pictures of your Supertools inspired me to also have a pictorial of my ST. I love all the pictures you posted. A used multitool (but not abused) is like a hardened veteran coming home in one piece from hand-to-hand combat in the battlefields.

I got my Supertool in mid 1998. It was my first and only love multiool for several years. I got my  second love MT, a Leatherman Kick in 2005. Now I have 8 MTs, 1 Wenger 3 layer SAK and a GAK (given to me by Calvin). This GAK is a precious addition to my meager MT collection. MTs are too expensive here.

I don’t have a light box so I just took pictures infront of the window. Sometimes I use flash to minimize the shadow. I am not an experienced photographer and I just took some tips from the thread “PLEASE, NO MORE” started by Ringzero.

I also wanted to contribute someting to this thread.

Here's a shot of my old Super Tool.

Bob,

Did you modify the plier jaws?   Looks like an EOD-type crimper.   I don't recall seeing a SuperTool with that feature.

Its jaws is similar to that of Charge TTi.

Nope, that is stock Leatherman. They made a very few black oxide Super Tools with crimper jaws, even fewer in stainless finish. Same with Super Tool 200's (small quantity in black oxide, even less in stainless)

Great shot's Eddie, how do you keep your supertool so rust free, as it's very humid where you live isn't it ???

Hi there Micky!

You're right, it's very humid here whole year round.

Before going to bed I always clean my MT that I EDC for the day. I wipe it with soft cotton cloth and I see to it that no fingerprints are left on all surfaces before I store it in my "treasure chest". I oil all pivots of the MTs that I EDC during weekends.

This it my meager MT collections inside my "treasure chest".

Thats by no means a meagre collection! You have the leatherman range pretty much covered. Very nice case as well! A superbly looked after collection too by the sounds of it.
