Yesterday I received my new Desert Trailmaster and one of the first things I notice is there is no up and down play in the blade? It locks solid. I have never seen a post 08 liner lock without play. Usually you can slip a piece of paper between the lock and blade but not this one.
So am I lucky or did Vic change their lock?

Is the pivot area of the blade where it contacts the liner lock angled? If so, then this must be a new design...
Otherwise, your lucky... just a guess...

When I compare it to my 2011 Soldier the locks look the same to me except the Soldier has a small gap like any other post 08 Trekker.

I think the soldier is in gen 5 now, someone that knows more about the generation dates might know more. But they do release new gens with changes

I think I've had 3 OHO 111mm vics, and I THINK one of them had just a tiny amount of blade play, while the others were absolutely rock solid, so...
I dunno. Either I got extraordinarily lucky on mine or you've been unlucky on yours.

Awl my 111mm liner locks lock up pretty good. The slide lock ones awlways have blade play. I was told this is normal...

Thanks for the input everyone. It looks like I just got lucky.

FWIW my linerlock Vics have been solid (the 2 I've had) :salute:

I tried seven blades.
Slidelocked Hunter and Helmsman
Linerlocked Fireman, Hunter XT, Soldier, Trailmaster Desert, Dual Pro
All of them have slight vertical play

That's been my experience with the 111mm vertical play was just normal but this one is a rock solid lock up with no play at all.
