Title: Mystery Solved
Post by: marduk on August 07, 2015, 04:20:34 PM
Several years ago, I purchased a 125th Anniversary Classic SD w/its box & pouch. When I opened the nail file, I discovered it had on the reverse "1180/1884." No other 125 Anniversary Classic that I came across had this on the nail file. I asked MTO members about this, but I received no response.
Last week, after 6 years of puzzling over this condundrum, the answer appeared, of all places, on Ebay. As part of the 125 year Jubilee, Vic produced among other items a travel alarm with a serial number on the reverse, nnnn/1884. Accompanying the timepiece was a matching Classic SD w/a similar number on the reverse of the nail file.
Mystery solved!
Or is it? Vic also produced, a year later, 2010, another travel alarm matching its Your Companion for Life on the Road series. This time piece also has a serial number nnnn/2010 on its back. Did this timepiece also come w/a matching knife??
