I am in a good mood this morning and I think we need to do something to celebrate before something comes along to kick me in the smurfs.
The first person that PM's me their address is going to get a gift. I'm not telling what it is, but it will be free and absolutely theirs.
There are a few conditions though, as there always will be with anything worth having!
1- You must post photos when you get it.
2- You then have to pay it forward and send either the gift (it isn't always for everyone!) or something of equal value to the first person who sends you their address.
If you aren't willing to pay it forward, don't enter. If you aren't willing to ship internationally, don't enter, because you never know who the first person to message you will be.
So, who is game? :D

Sounds fun! :hatsoff:

That didn't take long!
Two messages within 5 seconds of each other, and you know what? I'm doubling up. Both of you are getting something!
BTW, my comment about "equal value" above is subjective. No one is going to tally everything up- just make it worthwhile and interesting. Dollar Value isn't as important as the enjoyment of doing something good for someone else!

This is great!
Shipping internationaly is crazy here though.
A parcel to Canada would be €45 :ahhh I really wonder who's getting all that dough...

Shipping is up all over the place. I just shipped a backpack from PA to CA and the cheapest was $23.
-
Yes, shipping is a colossal pain in the hiney.
Speaking of which, the packages to the two initial recipients will go out first thing tomorrow morning. I had them all packaged up and ready to go immediately, but then my day got away from me and they didn't get in the mail on Friday as anticipated. I am too paranoid to leave stuff in an outside mailbox any longer than necessary, so they will be on their way Monday morning at 0900hrs. :D

Does that mean you'll have to ship your go-kart to me?

I have a slightly radioactive U Boat I'm looking to pass on to some lucky recipient.

Or Barbara's donkey tail that has been hanging at the captain's quarters for a few months now...

It's arrived! I'm going to offer it up to the first person who pm's me and will not show pics yet just to keep it a surprise - It's a good bit of kit but I just won't use it.

It's that time of the year again?! :ahhh

Ok peeps, so, I was the other lucky one to take a bite of Grant's big surprise!
while having a small cup of coffee  this morning I opened the package,
(https://i.imgur.com/1EhtBz1.jpg)
and to my surprise, I liked it a lot, so it's not going anywhere :D and I won't post pics unless mags gives me permission :salute:
but of course, the next one to send me their PM and address will get something put on the mail for them before this weekend  :tu:
and if that person wants to perpetuate the chain of giving to another member, that's up to them but it would be a very nice, MTO style way to keep the fun ;)
-
:ahhh
I'll play.
-
I'm more than happy for you to post pics TP - Hopefully the item will be thoroughly
abused tested at this years UK meet :tu:
-
looking forward to the testing mags
And Douglas, you were the first!! :woohoo: This Friday after work I'll send you something,
and now, for you all to see what Grant's GAW was about...
with the nice company of the wooden Duck
I opened the package from that old Canuck :D
Several Mt.Org stickers that will proudly label everal of my belongings as "MINE" :twak:
they were the icing on the cake of this cool, sturdy and innovative tool
The AXEM 4.0 one piece multitool, made by our Italian friends
Here's Grant's thread when it was first announced:
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,78867.0.html
and Antti's thorough review: :o
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,79743.0.html
There's little to cover about this stool that Grant or Antti didn't show, put to the test or review, :dunno:
but here are some more comparison pics so you see its size
It feels really solid and capable, the edge is sharp, the saw aggressive and it will now replace this crummy, crappy Chinese "Credit card tool" that I got, with a dull saw and pot metal steel (far left)
I tried to cut with its main edge, and it managed surprisingly well to cut a sausage in fine slices. :ahhh
(https://i.imgur.com/RhwAi6H.jpg)
I'll update here as I get to know the tool.
Thank you Grant!!!!
-
Glad to see they arrived safe and sound!
As for the stickers, they should travel with the Pay It Forward mentality- keep one and send the rest to the next person, and so on and so on. :D
I'm actually a big fan of the AXEM- it is way cooler than you think it is. :D

I'll make up for the stickers on next month's donation :salute:
SInce I do not hunt (other than tools and gadget, that is :D) the spear will be used to pick stuff up and retrieve objects that fall behind object or on inaccessible places, something that happens with alarming frequency at my house :dunno:

On Apr.29th the package left my country heading to Douglas' place :salute:
On my side, I have used the tool to get a sliding metallic belt buckle loose, it wouldn't move with hand pressure and hurt my fingers, so I applied torque with the AXEM and it quickly released
I also used it to scrape dry superglue from my work table, it squirted at high pressure from the tube and quickly dried hard as a rock :dunno:
-
Per tracking in both Spain and the US it must be floating around somewhere in U Boat teritory. Maybe Mags can locate it. :pok: :pok:

Lets hope for a full turn out then.
If Tom's there, it'll piss it down and test corrosion resistance. If it's sharper than a crayola crayon, Mike will bleed on it, so we can see how easy it is to clean. Tony to douse it in vinegar or showers of sparks, Mark to light his Tilley lamp within 15 feet of it (any closer will ruin the temper of the steel). Gareth to hurl it into a log, without even getting off his arse (he's far too good at that, although his eyesight's going in his old age, so nobody wear anything brown!). You can conjure up some high voltage test, and see if it's likely to explode, Chris and Pete can appraise the precision of the manufacturing tolerances, and I can fall over it and swear at it a lot :tu:

SirVic,
I must appologize. Your surprise has not been sent yet.
It's all gathered up and ready to post tommorow , but probably won't make it to the post office until Saturday. Life has been very crazy. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh My Boss went into the hospital two weeks ago so I have been covering the entire company. He was released yesterday but most likely will not be back full time for at least another week. The April donation "Who Needs a GAW" has been about all I could keep up with, other than work. Please forgive me and thank you for your patience.
I WILL GET IT ON THE WAY, don'y give up.
I'LL TAKE MY :twak: :twak: NOW...

Opinels are some of the absolute best knives you can buy, especially for the money! That looks like a carbon blade? If so, be careful, they rust easily, but they also take an edge like nothing else I have ever encountered!
Little known fact, MTO was almost an Opinel enthusiast site. Following the success of the old SOSAKOnline site (which eventually became the Swiss Army Knights), I wanted to start another one. I tried to stay away from doing multitools because the folks at Knifeforums (where SOSAK started) had just started a multitool discussion section and I didn't want to step on any toes. Opinels were very under appreciated, and I seriously considered starting a site dedicated entirely to them. In the end I thought it might be too much of a niche market, and I ended up going with a non-brand oriented idea and MTO was born.
Also, the Metro is very sweet! You don't see many of them anymore!
Def
-
Yes it is carbon.
Thanks for the heads up. It will probably be stored with a good coat of inox mx3 on it to avoid rust.
The metro is a cute little thing. It made me smile when I saw it.
I can't believe the lack of interest in getting the package. Nobody has messaged me yet!

It's not even 8am here- no one in NA is up yet, and everyone in Europe is already at work. :D
I am sure someone will be along shortly to claim it!

Great stuff.
I made the paracord pocket clip. They are great to save cars from clip scratches.
I really hope you like the marlin spike. That is made in Oz by a local toolmaker. And crumpler used to be made in Oz but I think they are outsourcing the manufacturing these days.
Enjoy the package. It was fun putting it all together for you.

The marlin spike might come in handy if I ever get around to making a paracord dog harness, but don't hold your breath as it might be a while. But it feel very nice and solid  I don't usualy use pocketclips so it's nice to have something to help pulling stuff out of my pocket :like:
