Sounds good RM. Mine is suppose to be here tomorrow. I need to dig out the ST, ST 200, and Core for comparison.
I find it hard to have any fear from someone who calles themselves Princess Pollywog. :D

Heres some quick comparison pics of the ST, ST 200, ST 300 and Core.
Is the ST200 sheath the newer pleather or the orginal "nice" leather type?
I am offical now! I got my 300 yesterday and I couldn't be happier. It is solid and heavy and all metal.really reminds me of the first supertool.its going to be my edc and I feel very sure it will last a very long time.

Great shots prime77! How do you like it so far? It is a hand full isnt it.I like it so far. It's pretty much what I expected. Mine has is very stiff and needs some working in like other new LM I have gotten recently. What I didn't expect is some of the poor finishing on it. My pliers have some marks and scratches on it. When I close the file it likes to hit the handles. O well.
I don't really blame him.
Don't get me wrong, it's definetly a tool you can really use, but the quality is simply not very good.
Okay, so I've heard about some scratches on the plier head, and a file that likes to rub. Not wonderful news certainly, but hardly enough to say the quality is not good and "a piece of crap" to quote your earlier post.
Are there more issues?
I am more than pleased with my 300,I guess its because I dont view the scratches from opening the tool,or the slight friction of the file against the handle as a fault or imperfection,to me its a tool not a piece of jewelery, the fit and finish of mine was great in my opinion.I am sorry to hear that some have been disappointed,i guess we as a group do sometimes set ourselves up to be disappointed by expecting the next tool or new model to be a holy grail,i have done it myself.this is just the opinion of one guy but I have to say for the $68 shipped I paid for the newest, latest, strongest leatherman on the planet I feel like I got a deal, and I am going to use the hell out of this tool,I will get every penney's worth of use out of it.I will not worry for one second about scratches or surface rust or wear and tear, because its a tool and life is too short to sweat the little stuff.carry it use it and dont look back.

+1 :tu:
I will say that the whe comment above about the first tools that come out sometimes have quality issues.
I am really okay with the ST 300. Although it wasn't what I had expected o terms of quality. But j can't say that I can see any way that it really could be better.
I go a Skeletool a few weekes after they came out and that hong was seriously lacking in quality.
I have heard nothing but good reviews on the Skeletool since after I traded it away over a year ago. So I'm actually thinking about ordering another one.
But you do have one of the coolest guys in your avatar. Maybe the guys will let you stay. :D

You should post those pics I sent you! Technically since it is pics of YOUR ST300, the pics are yours now too! ;)
Alright ST 300 owners. After sometime carrying your 300 what so you think of the smart clumping system? I have to say that I kind of like the Core system better. Maybe I just got used to it. But I find it just easier to use and less annoying.
Actually only carried it for 3 days....too big to carry for what I do. Loved the tools just too big. Switched back to the Spirit, then I got the BO Wave. It now has a home in the clip on Vic sheath on my belt.Yea it's a bigger tool than I mostly carry. But I had to give it it's pocket time.
Mine has left the US (http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e10/DaveK-ToolPics/Smilies/eusa_dance.gif)
...are these new Supertools that tight?Mine was.
That sucks..does the Kick pocket clip technique of loosening the fasteners work on the 300?No. The screws are to big on the plier pivots.

Seems a bit tighter than my Supertool ey?
Dave is yet to get his mitts on it actually. I keep meaning to send it to him for a bit of TLC, but I like it's sloppiness in a way. :D

Life is funny.
What are the odds of my getting both the two that I ordered from the local shop and the one I won from geoemt as part of the American Red Cross donation on the same day? I kid you not, I picked up the two and when I got home, I had the other in the mailbox.
So,help me out here.I'm not sure..
I was all set to purchase the ST 300,But after reading thru this thread, i'm not so sure.

My opinion, based upon the above is that the 300 is a nice tool that could have been made better. There appears to be some quality issues at the moment. To the market segment that this tool is geared towards (construction/Industrial/etc…), the negatives I stated may not be that much of a factor seeing that the 300 has a tougher more durable build compared to the Core with its plastic liner. The locking mechanism on the 300 has also been beefed up compared to the Core. Overall, the 300 is a very capable and tough tool with some quality control issues, and questionable ergonomic decisions. Is it the right tool for you…only you can answer that.
In fact, the few models I do have seem to have casting artifacts still visible, where they didn't quite grind enough off. Nothing major, but still there unlike the older heads that appeared to be flawless.
5. I am not a big fan of the new clumping system in so much as the main sharp blades have a round indentation that mates with a round protrusion in the handle. On one of the 300s, the main blade is rather difficult to take out and put back in. Mind you, this will get easier with use, but the experience is rather disconcerting from a quality standpoint

I agree with this part Chako. Sounds just like my 300 plier head. Quality no where near as nice as on other LM tools. I don't really like the new clumping system either.
Any chance for a close-up picture of the problem..? ???Ah - that answers my question - totally missed it - thanks!QuoteIn fact, the few models I do have seem to have casting artifacts still visible, where they didn't quite grind enough off. Here you go AHB.Thanks, Chako.. :salute:
Here you go AHB.The third one is just what mine looked like but worse. With a line going straight down the center of it. I have since spent some time polishing it.

That is a quality control issue albeit cosmetic in nature. As for the screws, not sure. I imagine they are the same except the two closest to the pliers being shorter in lenght.
Nice clear shots Chako, you are right about the pliers being a cosmetic issue. The difficulty opening the tools is something to be concerned about , that video of Junior on Utube using the instructions too work out how too close the tool, sounds like a couple ST300's are overly stiff to use  .
Really, the core is better than the st300?, im glad your sending me one :DNice clear shots Chako, you are right about the pliers being a cosmetic issue. Getting the knife blades out was the real downer for me. Too much pressure to get them out and I felt like I was going to cut myself everytime. I much prefer the core.
So,help me out here.
I was all set to purchase the ST 300,But after reading thru this thread, i'm not so sure.

Well I got mine, and besides the cosmetic "grinding" marks on the pliers it suffers from none of the above, so that's cool.
Actually the grind marks are cool, as they are consistent on each side, and look almost like a grain.
Full feedback & thoughts later, but so far, this is EXACTLY what I was hoping the ST300 would be. My Core will be retiring now as a worthy successor has been found!
I'm off to the woods later and may well cut some stuff up :D
It went out Wednesday the 16th, so 10 days? The other direction, he sent out on the 18th & it still got here today.
Man, I hate that!!! Hope it all works out for ya!It went out Wednesday the 16th, so 10 days? The other direction, he sent out on the 18th & it still got here today.
I was worried you would say that. Looks like I may have a stray package as well as one being held by customs this week. ::)
Glad it made it there ok!!! Hope the other little "tool" made it there ok as well! Oddly enough the Sideclip made it here today as well. Needless to say, I'm quite happy!

SURGE 300?
SURGE 300?
man.....i need to get me a SURGE :oWhy? Got a boat that needs anchoring?
cool :tu: but if i may ask why the ALX and not the AL? :)
cool :tu: but if i may ask why the ALX and not the AL? :)
The Surge has a pretty good pair of scissors already, so i didn't see the need to double up. I just need to find an ALX at a decent price now.
SURGE 300?
I'm curious about these sheaths and if they will fit a ST300...any thoughts?
This looks too skinny near the bottom...
Genuine brown leather sheath with snap closure holds Crater and Exapnse 55 model knives. Also holds the retired k502/k503x or h502/h503x lockback models.
This looks a bit more workable...
Premium leather sheath for folding hunting knives fits the Klamath and Nehalem models. Features belt loop and button closure for quiet operation in the field.
I've been wondering this myself. Didn't a leather sheath very similar come with the Surge in some kinda Coscto bundle set?
Edit, http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,13966.0.html Looks the same other than the stamping.
Well mine 1 is 4 the h502 maybe it's bigger to accommodate that knife

I've got an old leather ST 200 sheath. I wonder if that will fit the 300. I guess I'll find out when I get my paws on one.
Did you find anything?
Sounds as though your initial impression is good (if we ignore the sheath).
I think what the LM guys meant by suggesting the Surge sheath, was that there are elasticated, bottomless pockets on the sides. You can get a Maglite solitaire in there, but nothing much bigger I wouldn't think.
WooHoo, now I'm part of the ST300 club...Not much... ;)
Is the initiation painful? :ahhh
Welcome to the ST300 club and the forum bluesoftail
I did a search that came up with no results so I'll ask here, does the "universal tool adapter" fit the ST 300?
They offer two bit adapters, one for the "fuse" among others and one for the "core". Looking at the phillips driver on both tools it looks like the "core" phillips is the most similar to the 300.
So the 300 has been out a few months now  Who is carrying it still and who still likes it :pok: :DTo big of a tool for me to carry everyday. I went back to the Pulse. It does seem like a tool that can get any job done though.
I am still carrying it and loving it so far it hasn't failed me in any task I have put it 2  Have the removable bit adapter mentioned above as well and all of that fits into my H502 LM nylon knife sheath

I've got a stainless one coming next week. I'll give it a try on EDC duty and let you all know how it goes. :)
I EDC it every day. Just this afternoon I opened up two battery panels on a USS Enterprise toy one of my cousins got for Christmas with eht Phillips :tu:

does the st300 have a hard wire cutter underneath the plier head or is it a crimper?
:odoes the st300 have a hard wire cutter underneath the plier head or is it a crimper?
It has both!
i really want one :(
going to wait for my birthday i think though, when i bought my charge i tried to choose between this and the alx i figure i can get both now though =D
Got my "like new but previously enjoyed" ST 300 today! Seems really nice, surprisingly the fit and finish on mine is way better than my Surge, the tools don't feel gritty coming out and the handles unfold smoothly with no gritty feeling at all. Hey, I noticed the plier heads have that little angled raised portion that deactivates the blade safeties on the Surge if you know what I mean. It cams over the little pokey things that keep the blades locked in the closed position when you are using the pliers if that makes any sense. The gist of what I'm saying is that I think these plier heads would work in a Surge, and maybe that is what Leatherman is planning if they made them with that cam surface built into them, as it serves no purpose on the ST 300 that I can see. What do you guys think?
I'm pretty sure the same plier head is used on the new MUT, where the little ramps actuate the blade safeties. :)

Who knows the MUT may have been on the drawing table longer than the ST300 and the plier head was originally designed for it and somebody said hey let's put that on the ST300 as well :D

I am sure that they will eventually make there way to most of the tools :tu: but as is the plier head of the ST300 won't allow the Surge to close completely as another of our members here I believe DaveK tried it for fun and the tool won't close all the way but it will only take a little modifying and we will see it on other tools in the current lineup :tu:
Thanks to chako a club i can now proudly join :tu:Congrats... now to find a suitable sheath

I'm waiting for the MUT sheaths to be available - supposed to fit the ST300 among other tools :)
I am very tempted at this time to join the club, but how does the ST 300 do against the Surge?
I do recall that TNP over on YT stressed the lack of scissors on the 300 which could be a deal breaker for some, and the lack on oho could be another as well..
If you had to hump into the field lets say for a 4,5,8 hour hike, which one would you feel more at ease either having in your pack or on your hip?
Cheers,
Serge
Ok guys you've made a pretty good case to check it out, so I'm gonna give it a whirl and I just found one on Ebay for about $50.00 with shipping so I'll let you know what I think once it arrives and I hump through the woods with it a while groovy?
Cheers,

Mine dont rattle.

Mine neither! But I don't EDC mine, I just use it around the house, so who knows what will happen with time :)
I tend to tighten all my tools quite a bit anyway as rattles drive me mad :ahhh

I'm way too lazy to go upstairs and get my camera, so no pics yet, but I've had my ST300 for about 2 weeks now. It's a great, great tool. It replaced a SOG PowerLock and I could not be happier about that choice.
Not that I had anything against the Core, but the ST300 outclasses it by a longshot :salute:

How are you liking that "open" carry position in your fourth pic?
Yeah, I've actually had two (2) ST300's fresh from a retailer that have had manufacturing defects. Each time I sent them back to Leatherman and each time they sent me a perfect tool :tu: Given the quality and price, I'm willing to overlook a few quality control oversites.
Not sure if it is the 300 or my ample belly , but the last week since I have been carrying the 300 my duds have been riding low :ahhh :ahhh :D :D. Leatherman really need to bring out some heavy duty trouser suspenders   :D :D :DI had the same problem carrying my ST300 or Surge and so I've been toating a lighter EDC the past weeks. I am really hoping my Charge ALX is not too heavy since that is meant to be my new EDC.

Sorry You lost the ST 200. The ST 300 is a good tool so hopely it will grow on you.
I'm happy with it but not sure about the handle movement when the tool is closed  There is no play in the tools or pliers but I don't like how the handles can overlap each other when using the drivers . Is this normal ?
I'm camera shy :-[ lol everything is tight , it's just the handles overlap each other when applying any torque when using the drivers .Whoops, my bad mine does that too.. :P

You could try posting the vid on LMs FB page to see what they say.
Got a Supertool 300 yesterday , I really like it but not keen on how the handles can overlap each other when applying torque on the drivers .
...Once the pliers pivot axis is on the other side (pliers deployed) there is no play since the handle wedges are engaged and act on the pliers pivot. If there was play in the pliers pivot then there would be play in the handles in this fashion...
Noticed that even the Charge and Wave handles will move side to with some effort. Would surmise that most any multitool would when used a lot would. More so if bent out of alignment when torquing.
Hey Duncan-
We did that to give maximum flexibility to the handles when you're really squeezing on them but not too much to th epoint where they fold on you. Mine here at my desk are the same way and they work perfectly.
I want to buy a bit adapter for it . Is it just the std one that fits the Fuse/Blast etc. or is there a specfic one for the ST300.
thanks
Dunc

I had to repair the bunkers on our paintball field this past weekend. Unfortunately I forgot my hand saw; the ST300 filled in nicely. It squared off a couple 2x4s nicely.
I have a picture, unfortunately my phone is not sending it over in a timely fashion. If it shows up, I'll post it.
Yeah the saw works like magic :tu: Has anyone ever worn the saw out? Or tried to re-sharpen it? Just wondering ???
The wire stripper on my ST300 worked well yesterday 8) 8). I forgot to disconnect my trailer's electrical plug before unhitching it ::) >:( >:( >:(.
Might be better off getting a multi-meter out. Sounds like a home-wire job :(
It's all good now ,after looking up the 'Australian Standards' on the net & not having any luck with the 'standard' wiring configuration I contacted the crowd who made the trailer & I got the 'correct' info ::) ::) :D :D :D.

Informative and well laid out video.
Cheers :multi:
Has anyone seen the YT video of the fellow disemboweling a ST300 with a cutoff saw? He apparently received it as a warranty exchange, and was quite dissatisfied with the flex.
I'd post it, but it's just too horrid. :ahhh (http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy135/turnsouth/stuff/7502.gif)
I'm in too. I'm finding the flexy handles when it's closed a bit disconcerting. No problem though as I knew in advance what they're like :-D. I just spent too much time with Vic multis ;-)

A bit harsh eh? :-D
...but I don't think function will suffer.
I'm getting used to mine, lovin' it actually.

I thinking that posting such a video goes against the philosophy of MT.O
(At least I don't want to post it with out Dunc's, J-sews', or Def's permission)
Anyone else want a PM, just ask :tu:
Oop, a bit slow to reply here, but its perfectly fine to post video links here at MTorg. :tu:OK

 :D
Oh my god... is that guy wearing sandals, in the snow?
Now, seriously, there are some serious f***ed up people in the world.
You could grip both knurled screw heads with a couple of good pliers and try snugging them up a bit. It shouldn't take much; a quarter turn at most should take care of the looseness :salute:

Yeah i was using the core and and buck extract pliers, but there is very little meat to get a grip on, so I went with a standard needlenose and regular plier tools, was able to spin it a little, seems a little better might try it once more, but I'm getting some scratches around the screw :P. Maybe some vice grips would work better? Would be nice if they just used a stinkin hex screw

Amen to that! :salute:
Another odd thing I noticed about ST300 Vs. the Core(they are almost identical) is the ST300 side with 2 flatheads and awl - the thumb studs are all even, but on the Core they vary in length and are easier to get out, seems like a poor design downgrade imo.

That has to do with the ST300 tool clumping feature. On the Core the tools could come out individually, so the staggered nail nicks were standard, a feature not necessary on the ST300.
One note though, the last run of Core's and any that have been factory refurbished lately will have the ST300 implements. Not a big deal, but it does defeat the "one tool at a time" feature.
I kinda disagree, the offset nailnicks would still make it easier to chose the tool u want and put the others away faster even witht he clumping,

Good point, but the redesign of the ST300 was done with the goal of having all of the tools come out at once, and then being able to flick through them with your thumb. Having the nicks all in line does give a nice wide area to grab the tools.

Well i finally bought one yesterday. Its on its way, cant wait for it to get here. I have no idea what version it is but the seller said '2012' model. Its been over a year that i since decided i wanted one and liked what i saw then so i have no idea if theres been any updates. Hopefully its still made in USA (fingers crossed)
Got mine today. My first full size Leatherman.
Haven't seen that user name in a long time. Welcome back. How's your GAK collection, growing? I hope you enjoy the st300.
One thing I did notice on the 300, on the edge of the file, is that ment to be a metal saw? The teeth on mine are pretty poor, uneven and to be honest it looks like they are worn down already? No where near anything like the teeth on my KF4’s. This should not have got past QC surely?
Edit - i looked at the website and it does not mention a 'metal saw' so i guess i am ok then?

Anyone have an answer for this? I need to know if i need to return or exhange mine with the seller?
I have never owned a newer Leatherman that had a "Metal saw" worth a damn. The teeth on all mine have been less than ideal, so I'd say it's normal.
If you want a metal saw, get a Vic Spirit!
I just ordered my st300 today. Can I join? I want to play with the big kids...

How about a Leatherman Surge, then add a T-shank bi-metal jigsaw blade? I think this would trump ANYTHING currently available on an MT, as far as a metal saw goes. ;) You may have to trim off the very end of the jigsaw blade with a dremel, so it folds into the right place.
FWIW guys, I just got a Surge a couple days ago. Thought hard about the ST300 and its wonderful pliers/cutters. But two things killed it for me: a) complete lack of scissors, and b) no outside accessible tools. You know how it goes though; I may get one some day anyhow, hehehe.
Rec'd my Super Tool 300 today - what a tank! I have an original Super Tool and a Super Tool 200 and love them, but this thing is awesome. Looks like they examined all the broken tools they warrantied and used what they learned to make the 300. Just ordered an xl molle sheath and removeable bit driver to go with it. Don't know why I waited so long to get one. Thanks for all the input you guys have posted, I read a lot of it before I pulled the trigger and I couldn't be happier.I have a BO ST300 with the molle sheath and bit accessories. I keep it in the glove box of my wife's mini-van. It's a great tool. Back in January, we did a week long trip up in the Sierras to go sledding with the kids, and so I could do some hiking, and my wife could do some XC skiing. It was invaluable for installing/removing snow-chains. Every time I see one of those guys on the side of the highway offering to instal/remove snow chains, it reminds me of how much money I'm saving by having invested in the ST300. :tu:
Bob
I like my new ST300, it is a bit oldschool (conventional) comparing to Wave.
I painted the knife blade's finger groove red.
I painted the knife blade's finger groove red. That looks cool. 8)
That is exactly what I plan to do next.
I was thinking about filling a few notches (gimping) on the cutout area and above the finger groove to go by feel on which side the serated edge and saw blade was on.

It is! I like it a lot. Looking at a PE salt 1 now. Possibly an Atlantic salt and/or pacific salt too. I have some rust spots on my other (non-salt) spydies, decided to try the H1. Awesome knife so far.

I've been a member of the ST300 owners club for a long time, and it's still my favorite Leatherman (along with the Rebar and the PST). When you have a ST300 and a Swisschamp on you, there's not much you can't handle ;).

Is the weight and heft of the ST300 easy to get used to after carrying smaller lighter Leatherman mt's?
You want me to lie to you? The ST300 feels like a brick compared to smaller tools but you can get used to it if you really want to. I did manage to get comfortable with a PowerLock in my pocket for the whole month of January and that is about the same size and weight as the ST300. At least the PowerLock had scissors. Because the ST300 is a large, heavy tool I find it is best suited for carrying in a bag rather than on your belt or in your pocket, and again, no scissors.
Great review/feedback as well. I'm strongly considering taking the plunge on getting an st300 :tu:
I think I am leaning towards the st300 due to the three flat drivers as opposed to two. When I had a Micra, I used the very small driver on it and miss having one.
A friend of mine has an older st300 and he let me fiddle with it. I didn't think the extra size was a penalty.
^ Awesome
Yeah it was super nice. I also got an OHT at Christmas and I absolutely love it. I usually swap between the ST300 and the OHT at work depending on my mood...both are good heavy duty mt's that get lots of useJust sent mine off for repair...broke the smallest screwdriver head on a particularly nasty little rusted out number. I recently did the same thing to mine. Been putting off sending it in because I use it everyday and hate to be without it. Trying decide on which of my other LMs to sub in while its gone. Torn between the Rebar or the OHT. Glad to hear they took care of you.

That's about $50 off the regular price. I've never seen that. However, I did buy 2 Super Tool 300s for $39.95 each plus tax, on clearance, once. Then I sold the extra tool for $60 which means the one I kept cost me just under $25.00. This happened before I joined multitool.org and came to the realization that there's no such thing as an extra tool.
Well, I thought I was going to join the club today but instead of a BO CC Supertool 300 in the mail I got a boker knife that I didn't buy. The E-bay seller mixed up the two items.

That is one of the things that makes a Leatherman special. If you want it a multi-tool that was happy all the time, you should have gone with a SAK. Of course their overly cheery personality can get really annoying at times too.
My oldest, who is learning to be a carpenter, just picked up a ST300 for work. What a beast it is!! It makes my OG Supertool and my Rebar look pretty small in comparison. I have to say, I like it! :tu: :tu:
Yeah - I was looking at those Poncho - they look very interesting.
Thing is, I've no intention of starting to collect again, and I'm still very, very happy with my Charge TTi for my pocket or bag. I'm more likely to get myself a new TTi than anything else in the near future I reckon!

So, to me, Surge is bag carry while ST300 is suitable for belt carry or cargo pants pocket. Thanks Peacent . It's really helpful and you brought up another point. The shape. The size of the Surge is OK to me for bag carry but I don't want to put it in my bag without the sheath due to the OHO tools. They will scratch my other things in my bag but if I put the sheath on, the whole thing will be more bulky. I think the ST300 is more smooth and kind enough to be naked in my bag. Is that right?
:salute:
Do be warned though that the lockup on your st will most likely not be as good as your surge.

Hi gdoolittle. Thanks for the advise but i am sorry I don't quite get it. What do you mean by the the lock up? Do you mean the inner tool would wobble or have some play?
None of the wiggle makes it unusable does it :think:No i can still use it just fine. Honestly I just thought it was normal for the 300 to have some play. As you can see in the video its really not awful just enough to notice.. You can feel it more so than you can see it. The part that actually bothers me is the play while closed
Until mentioned I never even noticed that mine had it
Only when closed? How about when pliers is stretched? If it doesn't happen when the pliers is skretch I think it is fine.None of the wiggle makes it unusable does it :think:No i can still use it just fine. Its not as bad when the pliers are stretched but when I am using a driver there is a lot of flex in the opposite handle No matter what position I use. Like I said it hasn't kept me from using it but its just there. I have been thinking that it is normal ever since I received it.Only when closed? How about when pliers is stretched? My st300 doesnt have flex or play on the handles when closed. But the inner handle tools when open have some play, not too much though, only up and down(towards/away lock notch) no play side to side, its normal, based on the replies of our co st300 owners here that its same with theirs.None of the wiggle makes it unusable does it :think:No i can still use it just fine. Congrats on getting the Rebar, it is a fine tool :tu:
Right before we discussed about the tools wiggle on the ST300. I have got the rebar and I have been using it for two days. I have been looking at the rebar for a whole night trying to find out the wiggle point. Assuming the rebar share the same built of ST300, the reason for tool wiggle on the ST300 shall be the same.
The wiggle is not caused by the screws but the lock. There is a small round hole on the handle housing the pivot point of the lock. But you can see that this little hole is not completely round, it's slightly oval. Looks like it is not a production QC problem as the oval is smooth. It is supposed to be something by design. And in the back of the handle there is a notch accommodating the bar of the lock. You can also see that the notch is slightly larger than the bar in the lock by maybe 0.2mm. Then, when tools are engaged, and when you push the tool forward, the notch in the tool will push the whole lock plate forward to the allowance in the handle notch or the end of the oval hole whichever stop the lock plate first. I hope I do discribe correctly. That means, this wiggle is by design allowed by LM. So, it is not LM's qc error in the wiggle issue but LM design to have so. I don't really understand the reason to do that. Cutting down the scrap rate maybe .. I don't know. So, they all wiggle, as long as there are not vertical play, then get over it.
It is base on my observation to the rebar and I don't have other box style LM to compare. Will you check your ST300 or Rebar and correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Excited for you  Can't wait
Next to most reg sized MTs the 300 is a beast :o Especially next to the Rebar because it is essentially a small version of the 300 :tu:
Really can't wait to hear your thoughts on it and see what you think about the size difference
I got another ST300 from Thepeacent, to put in a car.
It was needed 10 minutes after I unboxed it, to fix a towel rack
The ST300 is my favourite multitool despite the pathetic file and they are the only multitools I actually use regularly ( or at all).
From a distance, standing alone it looks like a Rebar. Put them together, and that 300 is a tank!! I love the feel of it, and really like that full size saw compared to the Rebar's. I can speak for the Rebar's tools, and look forward to putting that 300 to work Poncho!Next to most reg sized MTs the 300 is a beast :o Especially next to the Rebar because it is essentially a small version of the 300 :tu:

Just noticed my mod st and rebar are quite much same length when open.. Most used mt title is a race between rebar and st at the moment. Size does make a difference. Rebat is perfect edc but ST is just more fun to use due to large size. Well both are quite much used.

This has been my daily carry for a few weeks and I love it.
I've been carrying an ST300 to work 5 days a week for the last several years. I can't think of another tool that would replace it. Exceeeeeept maybe a BO ST300. :D. I beat mine up pretty good at work and I really love the look of a worn BO finish on an MT or knife. Plus, If I ever lose or damage my BO ST300, I'd have my original SS as a backup.
So really, if I want to do the smart thing, the responsible thing, there's really no other option than to just buy a BO ST300. Right?

I have a 30th Anniversary edition, and can't decide whether to sell it or mod it  I think it could be made more usable (to my tastes) but it would take a lot of work :-\
The handle splay would need reducing, the awl would need reprofiling, the smallest flat driver would want thinning down a bit, and the cutters would need removing and completely reshaping (to both open up the main gripping area, and put proper cutting geometry on). Seems like a lot of work to have to do, especially when I already have functional tools that don't need all that work doing. It is however the only multitool I have left that has replaceable cutters. Why can't Leatherman just make tools properly?
Another leatherman club I can now join :D

My edc is my Rebar and my SAK Minichamp. I have several SAKs but this combo gives me everything except a toothpick and a corkscrew. Now I have a ST 300 on the way. It's for my motorcycle saddlebags but should I consider it as an alternate for the Rebar? Is it too big for edc?

Hey guys new to the site. Figured I start by posting a photo of my supertool 300 I received today from the leatherman website. Planning on using it and retirering the pst i have which i found last year while fishing.
I've heard a lot of good things about it. Cant wait to put it through the test.
Anybody know whats the best/easiest way to remove the knurled screws on these so I can customize my supertool 300

 The SS on BO look is nice and so is the SS on BO look :like: I did a swap between 2 of my ST300s a couple years ago and I like how they turned out :tu:
I did a thread HERE (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,74755.0.html) where I swapped the ST300s and a couple Rebars

Liking the sheath; looks good and classy! Nice contrast between the blackout cutters and silver tool. Have you thought about filling in the lettering and scales of the handles? Some black nail polish should do the trick.
BTW, how's the fit of the tool inside the sheath; can a bit kit fit in it wirh the tool? Thanks in advance. :multi: :like:

Poll: How do you use the screwdrivers on your ST300?
Option 1: with pliers open
Option 2: with pliers closed
I find myself using Option 1 most often. :duel:

Is it a new tool  a used one should be like this after being broken in a bit but a new one should be tighter  You can tighten them up if you don't like them that way :salute:Thanks Poncho. Yes, the tool is brand new. I appreciate the info confirming that this is a little out of the ordinary. I’m glad I ordered the replacement. I’m going to wait and compare the replacement and keep the best of the two. It’s a nice tool, but it was a little surprising to feel how loose it is out of the box, and how the handles clank together when checking out the tool. I wasn’t looking for a problem. This was just very noticeable as soon as I handled the tool. I couldn’t help but notice it right off. Otherwise the tool is what I would have expected. All inner tools are nice and sit in place without any excessive looseness. All of the tools look very functional. The larger size/length of the tools, the robust pliers, and the nice drivers really make the Supertool 300 feel like a toolbox full f tools that fit in the palm of your hand. Everything also locks into place okay. The tool in general is not stiff at all when working the pliers, like my Bond, Rebar, or even my nearly 30 year old PST. If it weren’t for the handle play, I’d say the Supertool 300 is the nicest tool of the bunch.
Picture of my Supertool 300 which arrived today. Nice tool overall. Especially like the longer tools and the nice flat drivers.
One question…fit and finish is nice overall, but when the tool is closed the handles are noticeably loose, to the point of clanking together. Is this the norm on the Supertool 300? All of the tools stay seated nicely. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210701/92c068ddc6913f983ea09c5e0f4224c9.jpg)
You can see the amount of movement by the difference in the space between the two handles in the pictures below. There is no resistance at all in the space of this movement. The handles just bounce against each other freely.

Edit to add…I went ahead a ordered a replacement. I’ll compare the two and keep the better of the two. Would still like to hear from some of you if this is common, so I know what to expect. Thanks for any feedback.
Joining this club tomorrow with a BO version.....very excitedIt’s a very nice tool…maybe even the one I’d pick if I had to choose only one. Enjoy
Update…received my replacement Supertool 300 today. It is exactly what a I would have expected. Everything is nicely fit and finished, and in good working order. When opening, it’s not as tight as my other tools, but is not at all loose and rattling. It also confirms for me that my first example was very loose, downright floppy in both the handles or pliers head. With the original, even when closed the handles were loose and would click against each other at both the top and bottom. As I said the replacement is exactly what I was expecting the first time around, and I think the Supertool 300 is a VERY nice tool. It definitely gives the impression of being a toolbox full of nice tools in the palm of your hand. I wouldn’t EDC it, but I definitely like having it around.
Both tools have dates stamps of 10/19 and 1/20 in the handles, so they were made around the same time and have been sitting in a warehouse for a little while. I did not buy directly from Leatherman.
Thanks again, Poncho for the feedback. I do appreciate it.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted out in the end :like:Thanks for the comments. I’m wouldn’t be surprised if mine does the same when it loosens up a bit, because it’s not very tight even now.
I often pocket carry my ST300, and now that it is a little more broken in, it will flop open in my pocket. I intentionally keep the lanyard ring sticking up about 2mm when I close the tool. This way the lanyard ring presses between the serrated blade and bottle opener, and keeps the tool closed :multi:
Great pics Poncho!

:like:Yea its horizontal and its great to carry since it drops bit below belt when carrying it
That’s a horizontal carry sheath, right?
I carry mine in the old school leather box sheaths that the ST200 came with
The exchanger will take saw, that is why there is an absence of one on the M :salute:
Don't have one so I can't comment on how it would interfere with the plier head but it will have to go on one of the outside spaces being a long tool :tu:
 it is the EOD that has a saw exchanger
Glad you like it but sorry for giving the wrong information

Great picture, Poncho; those Core OG pliers heads are so good-looking!Yes, they would fit... found pic in my archive, it is 10 years now :ahhh
Do you happen to know if they would fit in a latter ST300 chassis/handles?
Here is a great working pair.Yes indeed! :like:
Great pics and big congrats on getting an M :woohoo: :like:
The EOD has the same tapped hole in the plier head as well :tu: nice addition that adds a function but technically makes the tool lighter 8) :like:

Took a while and some patience on my part  but I finally tracked down a BO ST300 with the old style cap crimper and it is in near new condition :woohoo:
If you know about these then you know why I am so excited  they made these a year or less before ending production and swapping to the EOD style ST300 with different toolset and EOD cap crimper

Solid pics, E, Steve and P-Dog. (https://emoticons.datahamster.com/yay.gif) I'm rocking a stainless ST300 for new year's eve. At $99.95, the ST300 is almost a bargain in today's market.Good choice! The ST300 was and remains my work horse MT.
Happy STS everyone. I finally got around to getting this on back together. Parts are from three different ST300s. Jaws, pivots, and some tools from a EOD, handles from a SS ST300, and plain blade, awl, and file, as well as washers and spacers from a donor BO ST300. While I was at it, I threw in a bit adapter from a Surge. At this point, I really don’t know what to call this one. Ideas?
