Title: No back layer tool on saw?
Post by: theonew on April 19, 2017, 07:54:57 PM
On various 3 and 4 layer models that incorporate the saw, like the Camper/Hiker and Huntsman/Fieldmaster there is no back layer fine screwdriver included like on the larger models. Why? Is it to save on cost or weight?

I personally would prefer to have the chisel.

I don't understand this either :)

Here's an unusual Huntsman with chisel. The blades are blunt and the tools have extra stops so it opens as pictuered:

Isn't this a demonstration knife used in stores on display?

It is and I've always wondered why they would use a non-existing model for that purpose.
It's mounted on a stainless steel post which you can see in the pic, welded to the bottle opener.

The post makes it an incredible awkward pocket carry  :D
You can however wield your SAK like a pop sickle.

The only reason why they would use a non-existent SAK is to show of a multitude of tools.
I'd think however that a Huntsman wouldn't be the best choice for that, but a SwissChamp instead.

The Altimeter Plus does...it's a fine screwdriver.

Ah yes... fine sd is the standard back tool for the saw...

The thinnest SAK I know that has all the back tools is the Ranger or Master Craftsman...

I does seem to indicate the difference between "thin" and "fat" SAKs.  Or perhaps that's "basic" and "premium".
