Its a reed-scraping knife for preparing reeds for wind instruments. Produced for a firm called Oboe in Switzerland (CH). There was also a US dealer. The blades are 440C stainless, unique for Wenger. Left and right-handed versions. Later versions had the New Ranger grips.

At least one company still offers it (supposedly).

For some perverse reason, the Wenger in a Victorinox package appeals to me. I doubt I will ever open it.

A fluke, obviously. I wouldn't open it either. Nice collection! :like:

I was trying to figure out if the badges had been made, I found the art for them but couldn't see them as badges.
Anyway, they are up now.
And your badge has been awarded, congrats.

Thanks Ronald, I like the fact that it is so hefty. This is not an "in case" tool, or a backup... no it's a tool.
-
I know this is an old thred, just seemed silly to start a new one.
What are people's thoughts on the rangergrip 74, or others with pliers.
I was thinking this might be a good tool for fishing, instead of my old Wave. Which has server me well since about 2000. They are well used and getting really floppy.
How are the pliers? They seem weak from the pics. But i have not seen one in person.
Reviews seem mixed.
-
Really? No one likes or dislikes the 130mm ranger pliers?
Or are there just very few people who own them?
-
I don´t have one. Maybe Andy knows.

We have to revive this club

I´m showing off my Gardener and new Boatsman.

I don´t carry them but keep them handy around the house-and garden. They do get some use.
-
Sometimes yes, mostly that 179 since 74 isnt that practical when i allready carry plier based MT.

My gardener gats plenty of use when it comes to tying up and harvesting tomatoes! Sits next to the garden twine in my conservatory - however I must prepare the beds for this season’s planting, if it ever stops raining long enough!

Does anyone have a Wenger Ranger 70 for sale?
I’m trying to make a “Super 130mm” and I need the metal file to complete it.
Thanks
