I originally had a cordura pouch for my bushcraft/hike/scout/camp belt kit. I kept all the "necessary" items in there quite nice and tidy. I used a similar material belt as well to hold my pouch and knife.
I got a leather pouch ( the one on the right ) and then it hit me. I really enjoy the feel of leather. That pouch is not high quality but it works and my friend got it for me. I carry my FAK in it. There is plenty of room of other items as well. The other pouch I recently got and I love it. Its thick leather with lovely tool work. I haven't quite figured out what I'll carry in it yet but I'm working on some idea.
Other than those pouches I carry my fixed blade on that leather belt. I have been looking for a wider one so for now it'll do. I may revert back to my webbing belt till I find a quality single piece leather one.

Thanks. I have tend to come full circle with things. I have always loved leather, I own 4 leather coats for example. I love how leather ages and feels.

I've always liked leather, especially nice thick leather!, that smell and how the more it's used the better it looks. That's why like 95% of my sheaths are leather, heck I even took it on as a hobby,, but not for coats, lol..

I mean it's like getting in a brand new car with leather seats and dash, or a work boot store, that smell, like omg!

I waxed both but with the lack of rain we get it was more to keep these pouches from drying out.

Do you use Lexol for cleaning/crack prevention, or something different.??
I gravitate toward the heaviest leather I can get in belts, sheathes and the like as well!

Sorry for late response. I actually used some paste wax I had from some boots I bought a long time ago. The container is old so the name is no longer visible. I've been wanting to try SNO SEAL or Obenaufs LP for my boots and leather goods.

And finish it off with a good wax called Carnauba cream from Fiebing's. Smear on thin and let it airdry. And rub off with nice soft "old towel".

I'll have to check that out as well :tu:. The nice thing about leather is how it ages and with quality leather the ability to slow that aging process with protectants.

That's one of the reasons I use lexol. It puts the moisture back in that time etc takes out, and then you apply a good protectant to seal it in there longer....I have a 20 plus year old leather jacket made by J crew, that is obviously older looking, but no fading cracking etc.
