I was wanting to do my first 30 day challenge in June and do not have a SuperTool. I thought a Pioneer X challenge could be fun.
The Challenge will start on June 1st with posting a photo of the Victorinox Pioneer X for thirty (30) consecutive days.
I know @Exeter said he was interested in participating, but would love more if others are interested.
Here are my two:

I’m in. I was going to do the June Supertool challenge, but with what I’ll be doing at work that month, the Supertool just isn’t possible.
The PX will work great and I carry it everyday anyway!! Haha

as I am going to do the Supertool challenge :D
But I will follow this excellent challenge good luck everyone :tu:

Same here... looking like it's going to be a great time!
-
Zrxoa1 and Exeter - glad to have you.
Wspeed and Barry Rowland - sorry you won’t be able to participate. I knew it was a risk of excluding some people with the SuperTool challenge going on at the same. Hope you have a good time with the ST challenge.

Thanks Sos  :like:

Nice selection of PioneerX SAKs zrxoa1 :like: :tu:
Thank you!!
The three pictured together are mostly shelf queens. The silver one with regular shiny tools is the one I removed the key ring nub from and is my “beater”.
The one with acid washed tools is the one I just got. Still not quite sure if I like it or not. It went up for sale on Facebook at a price I couldn’t resist.
I wanted to see it in person and give it a try. See if I really like the look of the tools.

Kamakiri DAY 1:
I knew it was in one of those baggies! That's the OC/Elinox/+PAT that I was cleaning up to put into rotation.

I rarely use the small SD on 91mm for phillips screws. Worked great here:

First time I'm EDCing *any* alox. I've only used money clips for an evening prior. Working great for me so far.

Day 1
Helping with one of the most important tasks of the day - opening coffee.
Although my Pioneer X has gotten use around the house, I never carried it (or another alox) before, because I like and use the SAK tweezers. For this challenge, I added the sliver grippers to my pocket organizer so I would still have tweezers.

Nice collection of PXs zrxoa1.
kamakiri, glad to hear the small SD worked well for you. My usual carry SAKs have the combo tool and phillips, so I’ve never tried it but will have to keep in mind.

I completely understand. Most of my EDC lineup has a phillips on it back or inline...and my go-to 'Troublemaker' mod has them both. I had a brief moment where I thought I'd need to grab another knife, but I remembered the can opener is the one to use. Fit was perfect and no slipping.

:tu: That makes sense!
I use the challenge item first...If it doesn't work or have the tool I need, I grab something else and make note of it.
So far, I've been cleaning the main blade much more frequently than I would a small blade on a 91mm.

Day 1
My first day of the challenge with my only Pioneer X. I really wanted a PX, because I like the Alox models, but my Pioneers (a dark grey and a black one w/ red shield) don't offer something I consider really important for EDC: scissors. I frequently carry my Pioneer X, it's strudy, versatile and thin enough for pocket carry.
Lunch wit the PX, sausages.

I got thinking about this and I would think that it was safe. With it also being on the can opener, which can come in contact with food while opening.

Day 4 part 2
The Pioneer X assisted in emergency pet toy repair. The neck squeaker of my dog’s favorite toy failed and I had saved a working one from a previous toy where the body squeaker failed. The toy is fixed and dog is happy.

Package opening again, new strings for the guitar. Sorry for the late reply, gents!
:dwts:What a beauty, mech!
Is that a user or a shelf queen?
Thanks!
It'll be a shelf queen for now.
Beautiful knife, Mechanikal. Here seems the perfect place to show it off.
Thanks! :hatsoff:

Day 14
We're moving this weekend, I mostly used my Spirit X and my LM Charge for various tasks today, but the Pioneer X saw some use as well, I removed staples from old magazines with the can opener to make padding from the paper for packing smaller, delicate stuff - no action shot though.
-
Had a headache and used the PX to open a Goodies.

Had a lot of screwing duty today. The PX handled almost everything well. Only the mouse had to be opened for cleaning with the PH-1 bit of my XLT.

I'm out of the challenge...
I found myself going to the Troublemaker too often. I am glad I tried the PX for a bit. Its specific shortcomings for me over the last two weeks are helping me decide what's going into my next 'thin' mod build.
-
Day 16
Did some adjustments to my window shutter.
-
The PX is has a minimal toolset. I'm used to the Swiss champ XLT and especially its bit driver.
Do you already know which tools you want to use for your next mod kamakiri?
-
Day 16
Still dealing with unpacking stuff, also did some "gardening" with the Pioneer X.

I think it'll be a yeoman with the light swapped for the magnifier and try to fit an old/long phillips. Reverse the combo to the main blade side (again) and keep the small blade or use a hawksbill pruner. Three scale tools in the back and use a thinner old no tool front scale. File on the hook. Might go to 0.5mm nickel silver liners to save thickness and add some heft. Shave the corkscrew and main spring to delete the birdhead spacers...or use a shaved Rogue flathead combo tool.
Shame to see you go, but I can understand when it just isn’t meeting your needs.
 Thanks Sos, for your understanding and for getting me to finally try it out!
:iagree: that’s a shame kamakiri :tu:
 Thanks Wspeed. I still want a blue one like you and Sos have...and it might be part of getting me to mod something 93mm.

Yeah I dropped out after day 12. It’s nothing against the PX, I love it!! But I wanted to experiment with a few other SAKs. Trying to figure out the tools I really need and want and make a custom. Right now I’m carrying my Explorer. Thinking of adding inline awl from 93mm, in place of smalle blade. And adding the long file from my Mountaineer.

Can't say I love my PX yet, but I really like the way it feels in hand and the way it looks. Blue would be even better.
Sounds like a good mod. :tu: And so far, the challenges have helped me really see what I use.
I probably need to find/observe more uses for the inline awl. I've gone 35 years using SAKs without one, and I don't intuitively know what else to use it for over a backside awl. And *if* I really need that function...the scissors can be used like an inline awl in a pinch. So I've never felt the need to add one to a 91mm with scissors. Works well enough for drywall and soft woods and anywhere the active part of the scissor won't really get in the way.

Day 20

Can opeing, but not the usual way: although the tuna can had a pull tab, the lid bent in a way on the first pull that it was impossible to pull it open, so I had to pry it free step by step. Also installed a kitchen counter light with the Pioneer X today, made pilot holes then put in two screws into the bottom of the cupboard.

Day 22
Tried to sharpen a pencil. Didn't work out as expected... Used a normal sharpener afterwards.

Exeter that is one of the reasons I dislike pull tabs. One of the other reasons is that I’ve cut my self a couple time on a pull tab lid, but never opening with a can opener (including SAK and p-38).
Ulzhan - Great try although it didn’t work. never know unless you try.
