Just going to make my own thread to dump my pics and thoughts into, keep one going rather than starting numerous new ones. Gonna start with one from the other day, and a few of my favorite older shots I took.
Little more carnage in work.

Best "mod" I've finished so far

Really love the shots of my Dime, better photo subject than it is an MT

That last picture is probably my favorite minimalist carry I had ever put together, covered all my bases, fit on a small Sbiner, and looked cool together!
Thanks for stopping in folks, there'll be more soon

always interesting to see EDC threads. I agree with you, the Dime is much better photo model than it is a good MT model.
I've gifted my black one but it made for good pics with thatt worn look. :tu:
That last combo of minialist gear is very well put together and the kind of thing everybody should have on them, barely essentials, and they'd see how useful those things can be on occasion.
How do you like the Kershaw tool? I was about to get one but I haven't read much about it, lack of reviews everywhere. ???
and what do you think of that Coast? How's the output, life of the battery and overall durability? Would you put it against a Fenix, Lumintop and Led LENSER of the same size/battery type?
Thanks and keep it going, :salute:

Nice work on that Opie.
Cool thread. I have it bookmarked.

That's the second of those Coasts I've had, for the price you could originally get them for (Free, just a few bucks for shipping) I loved it. The output is solid, not great. It's not as good as say an Olight I3E, but I like the tail click more than the twist and they can take a beating. I have probably 6 different Coast lights and the only time they've given me problems is when I let a battery go bad inside one. They all come with nice Duracell batteries too.
The Kershaw tool came in a combo pack my sister got for me with a folder and a spoon/fork/carabiner. bottle opener works, scraper works, but it was a bit more of keychain jewelry than hard use tool. My name starts with a K so it got to ride along lol.
I did find the Dime to really be quite useful despite the build quality lacking. The "file" is stupid, and the driver that it's on looks shoddily formed, but it is capable of turning decent sized Philips screws. And I had used the pliers to turn stuck nuts as well. With a bit better QC and work on it it would be an awesome keychain tool!

I know the Juice B2 isn't all that popular, but it makes for a pretty good work carry for me in my current job. Mostly cutting open boxes and cutting a few types of rope/string. having the full serrated and full plain edge is nice. and it fits in my coin pocket out of the way

It is uninspiring and ugly, but it has great cutting power for its size, it has potential.

Both fair assessments, I don't hate the way it looks, definitely not good looking though. Function over form for this one I suppose.

So the Coast G19 got upgraded with a lanyard hole. Thanks! :like:

Great thread so far Higgs.

I too enjoy these vanity threads because It's interesting to see people's thoughts and progression on EDC gear and their hobbies and activities.

you must have had fun at work :D

Got to use my EDC stuff at work again today! Love when that happens, granted it was mostly on my own crap this time. I did use the "phillips" driver on my Dime to tighten a snap screw on a little guys helmet which was nice. The real help was in removing what was left of rotted eyelets on my old skates which have been relegated to pond duty now.
Flat driver made for an awesome light pry tool, needed to be a fairly fine edge to sneak between the eyelet and the boot.
Punched out the still surprisingly well seated backing as well, made short work of it and saved me from going searching for something else to get the job done.... Other tasks out of the hands of my EDC were pressing in new eyelets and swapping in newer Step Steel blades I "borrowed" from one of my other pairs that I can't stand....

This ones been going along for about 3-4 years for me now. I like it quite a bit for what it is, but wouldn't mistake it for a heavy use tool by any means. I did do a test of it along side full-size tools to see what it could do and it faired surprisingly well.
And well, for 10 bucks if it breaks it breaks. It's served well for me. And I like it for the fiddle factor.

Pretty much have this nailed down as my work day carry, at least for the next little while.

Double posting because this is like my own little island! So Kampfer is definitely right about the B2 being ugly and uninspiring, but damn is the cutting power and tiny form factor growing on me. Tucks in a coin pocket along side the Zippo and instantly forget its there. Starting to like this one a good bit.

First time getting to handle, nevermind use, either model. Charge came with me to work yesterday and immediately proved very useful as I used the file to shorten a copper rivet post a good bit before I could peen it.

I had that SOG Fielder in G10 scales and was a truly beautiful folder, and it's action smooth as silk. :tu:
It also took a screaming edge, and it was definitely my favorite SOG knife.
good memories :salute:

Especially good for the money, the wood scaled one was my first "real" pocket knife. Unfortunately it is without it's tip thanks to some grade A stupidity

First "mod", fixed the backspring on my Schrade Tough Tool(the made in the USA one), and put in a new pivot bolt in place of the rivet.

Picked up two Thrunite T01s as I was curious how they compared to the Olight I3E. Given that they are near enough to the same price, similar output rating, and overall size I wanted to see which was better.
I can certainly say the light put out by each is different. Fit and finish seems to be as well.
I may do a side by side comparison test if anyone would be interested?

How’s the B2 holding up?
-
Still getting the job done.... been using the Kershaw K Tool to rectify the serrated blade's tendency to roll an edge, and it's worked okay. Just run it over the back side of the edge and it's back to jagged slicing.
Man is it soft though, going to run it into the ground. I still just really enjoy how small it is with the potential to provide such solid cutting ability. Heat treating must not have been too good on these.
Replacement for it is likely to be a Case of some sort in the not so distant future

Well, my EDC gear got called into service today thanks to the wonderful surprise of a broken pipe.... Thrunite T01 saw steady use, and the Juice B2 was the go to knife for cutting various types of tape and pipe insulation. Both performed admirably, my father was quite amused with how effective they serrated blade was on the insulation. Could have been a huuuge headache, ended up not being too brutal, we got it sorted in pretty good time.

Which Charge did you get? AL or ALX?
-
It's an AL, purchased it second hand out of a small antiques type store at the base of the White Mountains on a small by-road. The Charge and an old SAK with a bail were sitting off in a corner so I snagged them

I really like the Charge, been pocket carrying it at work and its proven to be well worth the weight in the pocket. Good size and good tool selection. I love having a nice file with me. Left it home today to force myself to use my Wenger more, and man are the scissors getting a work out today
-
Got to use the awesome Wenger scissors to take care of some loose ends on a head I had to teach myself how to string. The crosslace I had to cut with them was pretty close to paracord in thickness and construction. They handled the task very well, and the '74 Zippo took care of any fraying.

I've also been quite fond of it, nice size, nice weight. My stupid self didn't realize it came with a bracket to use the sheath as a belt sheath, so I threaded paracord through all the holes to make it belt useable and have enjoyed it like that as it really tucks out of the way. Should be a great tool come fishing season.

I had the opposite experience. I acquired three Minimalists and read numerous comments and reiews mentionning a belt sheath. I for the love of me couldn't understand what the smurf was all that about, and was really puzzled.
After further researching i found that my models (older versions) only included neck chain and solid plastic sheath, whereas newer iterations came with a bel loop that you could attach to the lanyard.
No problems at all because I also paracorded the sheath to ease carrying in the belt :tu:
It looks very useful for some fishing related activities

The price was hard to deny as well at less than 20 bucks. Love it. Do you use yours often?

I have it most times as a backup, rarely gets used,
and for that very same reason it always has a scalpel sharp, very thin edge for special uses (medical emergencies, ultra precise cutting etc.) :tu:
Normally rides inside a jacket pocket or as a necklace in winter,

and on the belt on warmer months, where it's easier to access without that much clothing in between.
Paracord substitutes the neck chain when it goes to the belt :salute:

Nice weekend away in the White Mountains, bit more snow up there than there was back home. Really glad I got new tires for the truck, ended up at one point barreling through about 8 inches of untouched snow save for a few foot prints for half a mile.

This was on my last shift as we were getting ready for a big sale, had to break out some old racks and made a little more room in them getting rid of dowel pegs

One of my current projects, should finish in the next few days. Sick of worn out parts just getting sent to the trash, figured it was time to stop being lazy and try to make something cool out of them.

Finished product. I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out, going to be a nice addition to my mini mancave corner in my room.
