Title: Thoughts on the Cadet.
Post by: LatinoHeat on December 13, 2008, 04:18:47 AM
I am completely spoiled by the Cadet.  It seemed like a cool little knife when I forst got it, something to wear with dress pants and the like.  It is a tad bit thinner then I would like a knife to be, but since I started carrying it, I just can't do without it.  I carry my Wenger SI, and it seems too thick, the blade too big for me.  I carry one of my traditional slippies, like my beloved Case Peanut or a Case Stockman, and they just don't seem to stack up to the Cadet.  The alox construction just makes it feel...... indestructible.  It is thin, but that makes for an extremely comfortable carry.  A friend has a Case Mini Copperlock, and it is about the same size and width as the Cadet.  However, the Cadet is way more functional and useful, what with it's can opener, bottle opener, drivers, and file/reamer.  Sometimes I leave my Wave at home, depending on where I am going, but as long as I have the Cadet with me, I never feel under knifed/tooled.  Try as I might, I can't seem to go back to my other knives.  The Cadet has just taken over my pocket.

Yeah the Cadet really is a very special Sak :) I love my to bit's and not just because Ben bought it for me, but because it's the perfect balance of size/usefulness :)

It's as comfortable in the field as it is in a fancy resturant, it really is an everyman sak :)

It just needed a saw :D, which thanks to Neil I've now got :)

Not everything needs a saw. ::)  (I do like your Groundsman though).   The Cadet really is close to being perfect EDC though.  Small, slim and light enough so you don't notice it in your pocket but big enough it feels like a real knife when you use it.  Now I'm going to have to put mine on my key ring again aren't I? :D
