Title: Keychain folding pliers recommendation please!
Post by: Don Pablo on July 19, 2017, 06:10:42 PM
I want need folding keychain pliers that are about the size of a 3-4 layer 91mm SAK?
The IDL ones look nice, but are hard to get in europe.
All I need is the folding plier bit, they will be paired with a SAK that has the tools I need.

Must be keychain?

IDL T5 or T7
The Swiss+Tech ones are less likely to do a Houdini from your keyring, but I've not found them as good in use. They're OK, but the IDL ones are better
Mini Tool. Kep your eyes on the sales forums here
How strong do the pliers need to be? Would a Dime or LM Squirt or Style PS cover it?

I Have the IDLs, a pair of Swiss+Tech ones, but ditched the Minitool in favour of the Sideclip. I tend to rely on the pliers tool to cover the Phillips and technician sized flat head requirements too, and the Sideclip beats the Mini hands down in that respect .... and it's lighter

The one that lives on my keys is the Dime. It might not be sturdy enough for everyone's needs, but it's not let me down, and it's been on my keys (or on my person another way) pretty much since they came out

They don't have to be on a keychain... They should fit into a Skinth L Shield with a 4 layer SAK...
I reckon that the available space will be a bit less than 4.5cm(1.5") wide and deep, and about 10cm(4") high.
It looks like the IDL T5 will fit, but I would like something longer, deeper and with less width, proportionally.

Kind of the size of an open Squirt with the handles together, if that makes sense.

Am I looking for the impossible?

P.S, Looks like an open T5 would make better use of the space than a closed one.
Weird I know.

A PST might fit actually.

I have a PST that was robbed of all it's other tools, so it's just the plier head and handles. Any good to you?

Interesting...

Model: PST
Length: 4.01 in | 10.2 cm
Width: 1.05 in | 2.68 cm
Thickness: 0.53 in | 1.35 cm

Model: Super Tool
Length: 4.52 in | 11.5 cm
Width: 1.24 in | 3.15 cm

I'll wait until I get my skinth, then I can take more accurate measurements.
