Title: Smurf you photobucket!
Post by: captain spaulding on January 26, 2016, 11:48:08 PM
Anyone else having problems with them lately? I cannot even upload images without it stalling and just loading indefinitely without progress. Some goes for deleting pictures. It just says its working and does noting. I also noticed it says I have used 77% of my storage capacity. Weird thing is I just deleted everything not to long ago and only have 100 pictures or so. I used to be able to store at least 1,000 pictures and would not be at full capacity. What the smurf!

I have had minor problems with photobucket recently, but nothing major.  When I try to upload or edit, it hangs up for a while.  Nothing serious, but definitely something going on.

They have been doing maintenance lately I think, a few days ago there was a maintenance window that came up when I tried to load some pics. I've been using imgur a lot more lately but it sometimes has traffic issues.

My uploads usually stick at 90% so I wait about 5 mins and then open a new bucket window and it's there.....I then close the orig upload window. It's been weird for about 2 weeks or so. Just thought it was my slow net.

....and that is one of the reasons why I love our forum -- it allows me to upload pictures without having to rely on 3rd party apps :)

Yes but they have to be small in size

I had that happen not too long ago as well.  Yesterday I was trying to get the link for a picture but the PB app couldn't retrive them, and then just crashed.  I managed to get the link from the regular site.

I've had it double a couple of times too.

I'm about done with photobucket.  I'm all for banner ads when it comes to free accounts, but Photobucket seems to have all but sold out and the damn site just bogs down for me.  Popups everywhere, in-your-face ads left and right, I'm done with it.  Looking for a good alternative.

Download Ghostery...it blocks all ads, trackers and cookies. It's free.

https://www.ghostery.com/

I never see ads and all pop ups are blocked except a few offers from Photobucket (about 2-3 a week)

Same here, it stops and i press cancel and then it loads some of the pictures, so i end up with having the same pictures 3 times... I spent about 2 hours yesterday trying to upload 30 pictures...

The problem with the forum is that you are only allowed 4 pictures, and they go at the end, so if you want to include them in the text you need to use Photobucket or post them first in another thread and then link...

Using PicasaWeb... only good words to say about it... I just hope Google doesn't axe it... Google Photos is quite awful.

Yes, I've had that infinite loading for a long time, but when I click go to library, when it asks me if I dooo realllyyyyy want to leave the page and I do leave the page, the images have actually been uploaded with no problem. Just it keeps saying the upload is in progress without a reason.

It's a very heavy site and I don't like it, but more than everything I hate makign new registrations, so I don't wanna change it.. lol.

I did try some other sites, a few years ago, but they were worse.

If i was to delete things or move them to another site it will screw up many of my posts here..

I assume that the will sort it out, but they have been making things worse with every update, for a few years now.

Guess by now I can recommend TinyPic.

Never had any issues, and the one occasion they were down and I tried another service adds were an issue.

Imgur has been working pretty well for me. Only had traffic issues once or twice, otherwise its smooth sailing. Its actually easier than uploading direct to the forum, once you get used to how it works.

Mine keeps saying the upload hasn't finished yet, I keep ignoring it and clicking "leave the page" and then the pictures show up in the Library

I had a little crash yesterday and all my passwords got deleted so I've been logging back in to sites I visit and after I logged back in to Photobucket, it works fine now.

So, a log out and back in might improve it's performance.

A friend from another country told me the same earlier today when it was still working perfectly for me. These guys are crazy.

Im about ready to stop using them for image hosting.  Piece of crap site.  I loathe the interface to upload an manage. It was created by morons who dont know the meaning of common sense and efficiency.  I only uploade by ftp client as I cant tolerate the horrible web interface.

Since they are completely down now im just going to implement the gallery option on my website host and keep my pics there.  Piece of f'n garbage.

They should be taking a beating on Facebook.  An entity as big as Photobucket - and especially since it has paying customers - should have contingency plans, backup servers, TEOTWAWKI protocols, etc.

Don't these people know that I want to upload a pic of a SOG PowerAssist?  Dang it!

At least Photobucket is posting regular Facebook updates.  That's more than some online entities would do in similar circumstances.

I just created an IMGUR account so I could keep my SOG 30 day Challenge thread alive.  Take that Photobozo!

You can do it in a mobile browser, but that is silly and awkward.  There is an Android App called Xotof that works, at least occasionally, but is quite buggy and the developer isn't supporting it any more, but its worth a shot.
