Nothing to do with plumbing.
The pointy bit is used to clean dirt out of the holes that the two bumps go into...

Is it one of those wrenches for removing spikes from golf shoes?

Is it one of those wrenches for removing spikes from golf shoes?
It does not look posh enough for that... also it is pretty scratched up, so I would presume that its used on something metallic.

I reckon that's close enough.  :tu:
It's for changing spikes on cricket shoes. Sometimes we have to play on an artificial pitch so I have to swap out the metals spikes for rubber/plastic.

Your turn?  :pok:

For Cricket shoes!   Cool, never thought you had special cleats for the sport. (It is a sport?)

Accessing secure (mostly outdoor) water spigots. The 4-way water key (aka sillcock key) will open just about any secured water source in the USA. I have no information on the subject of other countries in this respect.

in my country is called "Pass key" or "Cuadradito (Little Quattro, number four, related to its 4 "arms")" in jargon,
here they have two square ends of different sizes, a triangular end (for light posts and streetlights) and a rounded end with two protruding mini arms (like an "O" with a horizontal line that extends on both sides beyond the circle's outer wall)

these open most electrical, water and maintenance stuff on train stations, maintenance rooms and the street

No. Not a hammer. But it helps with nails. Some ferriers use them, some dont.

How would that be used?

Twisting no, bending fencing wire might technically be what it does however it is the wrong word to describe the function of the tool.

Used for screwing/unscrewing something...?

its used to hold still a part that would normally turn so you can work on it
I was thinking of bottle tops but now I am thinking of gears...

im guessing thats some tool for setting a gear on a transmission or clutch?

If thats wrong then maybe its used on a grandfather clock?

Yeah close enough  :tu: , its actually a clutch holder tool, the "pro" version, sometimes replaced with some specialized vise grips (2nd pic) or other shop inventions

One looks like a spark igniter for a boiler/furnace, is the other a pilot burner?
Title: Re: Guess

One looks like a spark igniter for a boiler/furnace, is the other a pilot burner?

ding ding ding! close enough, pic 1, its actually a flame rod/sensor that sits in the burner flame and tells the circuit board that the flame is lit and to keep the gas flowing, but they use the same type of part to do the spark ignition, but those usually have a 90 degree bend in the circular rod. good job Kev, but the second item is not a pilot, another hint is its a tool.

Here's a closer view of the spot that does the work:

Title: Re: Guess

by the way, if you own a gas furnace, and its not working, PM me maybe I can save you a service call/$. If the burner turns on but shuts off very quickly, very often that flame sensor needs to be cleaned...shut the power to the unit, and look in the gas burner section for that part in the picture, its usually held in place with a small phillips screw and has a wire attached to it. remove the screw and pull the sensor out, clean it with steel wool preferrably or sand cloth/paper, put it back in place, after you switch power on it should work ok, if not you may have a different issue.

So can someone please guess i wanna know what that 2nd gadget is for  :pok:

Im guessing the cilynder with the bent lever works as a stop perhaps for the slider thats on the bottom that would close the rods together when moved, one tip looks like a spark stone with a regulator and the other tip?...

:salute: had a feeling you would be the one to get it right. I mostly used this for drain hoses in high efficiency furnaces which are near impossible to squeeze with a channel lock pliers due to the tight areas they run through, but I assume they would work well in autos or washing machines

Wonder if Butch drinks port...

thanks to you i finally know what my last words are going to be

Yes! they are vintage port tongs, they were created to heat the neck of the bottle so you could easily make a clean cut when in very old bottles to avoid dealing with the cork. I like they add theatricality to the vintage wine ritual without the dangers of the saber technique and they are more back in use lately. (2nd pic)

I think the joiner thing has a handles? not too sure, I never really did installs of ductwork. but you guys are close enough, its a folding tool to make angles on the edges of ducts so you can attach them together, google slip and drive duct connenction if you havent passed out from boredom reading this sentence. Ihave never even used that tool, what a waste of money.

Same thing a sheetmetal joiner does. Put opposing bends in 2 sheets of metal then hammer them closed.

It's kind of a tool --- well, measuring device. I've removed the branding.  It is marked out in cm on one side and inches on the other.  It is flexible and a bit wobbly.

Yes!  It is a dipstick for measuring liquid nitrogen levels in a cryo-tank.

Our tanks are kept cold by the LN2 sitting at the bottom of the tank.  We store samples in the cold vapour above the liquid.

Dip the stick into the tank and pull it out.  Wave the stick in the air and moisture freezes to the part that was in contact with liquid.

The tanks are easily large enough for a person or two to get into but we only store blood samples in small tubes in the tank.

that sounds cool and i imagine a bit of a risky job if you are not careful, which material is the stick made of?
Title: Re: Guess
Post by: BePrepared on November 23, 2017, 10:12:41 PM
Not sure about exact material, but we use a lot of stainless steel racks in the tanks, along with plastic boxes and containers which all survive the cold.  The dipstick is just a soft-ish/floppy-ish plastic.

Chainsaw multi-tool, screwdriver for adjustments (and the fuel and lubricant tanks on older models, like Granddad's Stihl 011AV from the 1980s),Wrench is for use on the bolts holding the bar and chain on, as well as the cover.  Also found in the rare and extremely collectible Torx tip (I think that one might be for gas trimmers)  :D

Yeah I loosen off the bar nuts a bit... but the bar is still in the same place.  :dunno:

I noticed that bit of poor ergonomics in my (IIRC) Husqvarna 394XP.
There wasn't enough room to rotate the multi-wrench without bumping against the bar.  Not impossible to adjust, just a bit awkward.
