I have found on " le bon coin " ( a french online secondhand shop ) a 1998 swisstool which
are hard to find because of their limited numbers ( only one year of production).
I have made a pretty good deal because I have buyed it 55 euros !!
As you see on the second picture, you have the 1997 prototype after the 1998 official release.
you can use this picture to estimate approximativly the age of your swisstool.

Congrats on a nice find.
Yes, we know about the different versions. The second picture came from this forum.

Welcome and nice find!
I had been using that picture myself as reference, along with some topics on the top of the swiss army knife section.
To be honest I don't think that 1998 plier head model is rare at all.
I have seen many, many models for sale with that configuration, and you can still find them new in box.
On the other hand, the 1997 was a difficult one to locate, and only fond one after long search and was able to get it with the help by an US forum member.

I'll try to find a 1997 swisstool but it will be more difficult

Yes, the 1997 version can be very difficult to find indeed.

I´ve got also a ´98 version for 16,50€ from Ebay. I have to admit, this was really a low price and i was surprised to get it that cheap. It is pretty worn but nothing is broken, and it´s still usable.
I don´t think they´re rare. I t was a completly new tool from a well known manufacturer. I´m sure they sold them like hot cakes in the first year.

From the vault, '97 introductory SwissTool, no corkscrew hole, old style file, Vic stamp and shield centered (both sides). A favorite of mine! :)
