When you ask to a collector about what is the most cherished and precious knife in his collection, the most common answer will be: all of them!
But let's be honest, in any collection no matter if you have 30 or 300 knives, they always be some knives that you love more and you will never sell or give away.
So i have a idea:
All the collectors of Swiss Army Knives, to take some photos of the most cherished and precious knives of our collections.
Let the drooling start !
(I must confess that it took me a lot of effort to restrain myself not to take photos from almost my entire collection!) :D

I'm pretty fond of my horn-handled Victorinox. A very attractive play of colors, more pleasing than any man-made material.
-
Amazing guys!!! Congratulations!
Mine are stuck in customs as they are on stirke... :twak:
Will post when I have them in my hands. :mail:

My most cherished of my collection. New in package Soldiers dated 08. I know they're 08 because I had 2 more that I got at the same time and opened. I mainly collect 1983 - 2008 soldiers now and these are my favorite and probably most valuable as the years go on.

I totaly agree with you. I always like this type of handles, but they are very expencive.
I have only 2 in my collection. A Spartan of 1943 and a SwissChamp with the old magnifying glass.

Nice; these happen to be a favorite of mine as well. While they are often expensive just a few weeks ago I picked up an older huntsman for less than $15 off ebay. I didn't really need it, but $15... a steal at twice the price.

I'd have done the same thing in that price! :)

Absolutely :salute:
That's like a different pocket carry option for every day of the year with a couple left over for back up isn't it .... :P :D :D :D
Great pic, and thanks for posting :tu:
-
Ha! Yes, hard not to love them all :D
Lovely pics in general guys, thanks for that :tu:
-
Wow! How long have you been collecting?
About 5 years. This is about 2/3 of my collection - primarily 1909-1985 84mm and 91mm. I have my kids taking inventory for me so I'll stop buy copies of things I already have. Not shown here are more common models from 1985+, no old 93mm alox, and no new alox of any kind (84mm or 93mm).
Believe it or not, every single knife on that table is different in some way, even all of the St Christophers. The larger knifes have a lot more tools (obviously), and more tools = more things to change, so more versions in the collection. The Elinox knives are a personal favorite of mine, for whatever reason.
-
WOW! :o :o :o :o :o :o
What a collection!
Congratulations :tu:

I posted a thread on this one but I thought a picture of it belonged in here too, it is my very first SAK, a Tiffany's silver Classic SD engraved with my initials:

I have read your story very nice one. :)
The first SAK is always the most precious Swiss knife of a collection.
-
This is one I recently received. This one is very special for many reasons, and I'm very happy Victorinox and SCM produced this knife. I hope to get some better pictures at another time.

My old Aluminium Cadet, a present from my wife during 1986. It sees a lot of action (I carved her name on a million trees with this one!).
Now my XLT is a loved one also, because it is new and shiny.
My most used is the Swiss Champ. I EDC three in a row since 1985, the one I have now is from 1998.

I have been meaning too post in this thread BUT I was waiting for the arrival of the missing piece to my SAK puzzle (that sounds like a nasty scrotal incident  'The left nut were did it go' :ahhh :D).
The 98 Wenger arrived recently completing my set :woohoo: :woohoo:
Here they are the gang of 6 , 2 mine & the other 4 for my sons ;
From top my;
-71 Vic Soldier(wanted one for years finally landed it recently,71 is my year of birth )
-Vic Pioneer(my first ever pocket knife approaching 30 years old)
-98 Wenger Soldier(My eldest son Sam's birth year, taken a few years to land it)
-98 Vic Soldier(Again for Samo)
-01 Wenger Soldier(for my youngest son Jack, Jack's birth year)
-01 Vic Soldier (Jack's)
My old Pioneer's blade tip needed to be reshaped on account of a younger/foolish version of me breaking it :( :(.
I reckon I will give my boys their birth year SAK's for their 18th & 21'st birthdays
I have to thank Dennis/WH867 & David for their help getting the boys their special SAKs

What are the tools in the black portion of that SAK?
They are watchmaker's tools. This is actually a very handy Wenger. I have one and it's indispensable for battery replacements (especially on watches with screwdown battery brackets.)

My Grand Prix collection, all 6 are differnt, i.e. tools, gold vs. silver enlays, etc:

The bottom three on the right are: Space Shuttle Master Craftsman, Master Craftsman, and 1960's Master Craftsman w/bail. I had an extra bail one, and sold it to Della of Della's Knives at a gunshow last April (he is on E-Bay)...saw him today at the gunshow...he sold a SAK to a Boy Scout.
