I wished I could join but sadly :cry: these were being retired when I first started collecting and weren't very high on my list at the time :facepalm: As soon as they were retired the prices started going up and they became very rare very quick :oops: One day perhaps I will find one reasonable priced an get it though :D

I got mine well after they retired, brand new, for about USD$60-70.
I'm not really into camo myself but is a great sheath; I wish that style was available for other Leathermans.

I have one also. Found it a couple of years ago brand new in a shop.
That awl is a real weapon. Easy to get bit by if your not careful.

I like all these Leatherman "one-offs" they made. Like these pruning shears
, crunch, flair etc. I would have liked to get one of these for my father who is a landscaper.

Looks wise I like vista better only because it's camo sheath. I don't use them so cannot comment which one is more useful or better. I got them for the collection. I believe the Hybrid (yellow, grafting knife, bark lifter, sprinkler head adjuster, weed remover) was meant for gardening and Vista (green, awl, choke tube wrench, combo blade) was meant for hunting.

That's another reason to have one in your collection. I actually contacted a dealer in South Africa who seem to have one but that did not work out. Finally one showed up in ebay and was able to get a Genus. At first I thought it was the ugliest LM. I have grown to like it now. Hope you find one too.

The suggested retail prices was $75. I am pretty sure they would have sold it for much cheaper in the market.

Strange enough I have a spare prunerblade for the Genus. just lacking the actual tool. :facepalm:

Waited forever to get one under $200. The listing said it had a "blemish" on the handle, but I took a chance at $150(I hate buying these expensive tools, but I've ran the tank out on cheaper LMs). The blemish was a tiny piece of plastic flash and flicked off with my fingernail. This tool is mint NIB. :)

Now, the impossible task, to search for a Hybrid(I don't care for the Genus though, since it is a fixed head). I'll be patient and hopefully find one for similar money at some point.
Now to build up my little MT savings again. The Vista(along with the BO Center-Drive) drained me. :ahhh

It is hard to believe some of these tools cost as much as they do. I guess even though some collectors are dormant on MT.o, they still seek and pay big for discontinued tools. :ahhh

Oh man, that is tough for sure. I remember seeing many MTs in the glass cases at WalMart and thinking "I would never buy that." Now that I am trying to become a serious collector, it all seems so crazy. :ahhh

Indeed. $300 is an insane amount to spend on an MT. :ahhh
So, after poking around the MT wiki, I found something cool. My tool is a 2006 version with the flat head screw pivot. That was changed soon after, because the pivot had a tendency to self tighten. :woohoo:

I think I was very lucky that I found it. I searched half a day using google and visited I don't know how many shops on every continent and I found one shop with one GENUS and now it's mine.

I can’t believe there’s never been a new version. Seems like the perfect way to get new Leatherman customers interested.
There must be a massive market for a new Hybrid at a sensible price.

I remember reading somewhere that Leatherman trademarked the name "Leatherman Harvest" which really sounds like a new Hybrid.

Someone told me the Harvest was going to be more like the Genus than the Hybrid. Although they also told me it would be the Garage 4 release, so who knows?
I’d rather have something that folds to the size of the Hybrid. Much handier for a coat pocket dog walking carry.
